Shaving is a pain... and i hate it when you finish on your legs and then relize that, when you're nowhere near a razor, you have a patch right around your ankles. I also have to admit that i slack a lot, especially in the winter [just wear pants and no one will know] . As for the pits... a decent t-shirt will cover fine. ::tongue::

I have shaved, waxed and gone for lazer treatment, none of it my idea of a good time, but yes, I'm in the "SHAVE" court. Women are depicted as sensuous creatures with glossy silky locks and skin like new milk - alas that some of us are born fluffier than others. I find it odd that women are expected to be hair free practically everywhere but for eyebrows and head hair, yet men can stroll along the beach, sporting back hair (!) and no one flinches in horror and orders the beach to be evacuated... what is that all about? Not more than a handful of hundred years ago men shaved, wore heels and stockings, wigs and makeup and now today's man - well, we're lucky if they wear deodorant! Amazing how things can change in such a short time...

OH! I flinch and yell obcenities, or at least whisper them to whoever I am with! I agree with you! What the hell happened??? And yes, women are supposed to be silky nad seductive and that's a little hard to do with sandpaper on your legs and ferns sprouting under your arms!!! LOL!!!

eww... men with backhair - that's almost as bad as the really hair men on the beach that think it is a REALLY GREAT idea to wear a speedo -- NO it's not -- it looks like you have a small furry woodland creature trying to escape that speedo...

Thank you!! That reminds me of the lines from Lady Sovereign's song Love Me or Hate Me:
"I got hairy armpits, but I don't walk around like this.
I wear a big baggy t-shirt that hides that nasty s**t."

::tongue:: I love those lines!

OMG, you girls are cracking me up! LMAO!

I'm Italian.... nuff said! ::tongue::

Ok, I'll say more... Because I'm Italian, I've got hair everywhere! It sucks! Women would kill for the amount of hair I have on my head, or at least for half of it! When I braid it, it's about two inches thick in diameter. Yes, I said 2 INCHES. I hate to shave, but I do and I have to, especially when I'm going to wear capris (not much into skirts) because my hair is just too thick and noticable after two days. I don't shave so much during the winter because really, who gives a s**t? I wear jeans and no one is going to see my legs! Armpits, I always shave. I have a friend who used to live in NJ, and she wouldn't shave her legs all winter. The hair eventually gets soft. LOL As for that nether region, my man would like it bare, but I don't, so I keep it trimmed. ::biggrin::

And yes, I agree... why in the hell do we have hair on our faces??? As I said, I'm Italian. Guess what I have waxed?! Eyebrows, upper lip, and chin, damn it! It's so damned annoying. And what's with that one long a*s hair that sprouts from the neck every so often?!?!?! WTF???

jinx... ha ha -- i am italian too -- although i dont look it - my italian trait i inherited - thick coure black hair - everywhere -- its a pain in the a*s -- my sister gets the nice olive complexion - i get hair - ha ha

LOL...Lord, you guys are going to be the death of me laughing so much. I sometimes lotion the fine hair down on my legs and you can't tell! I just shaved the muff again, and I tell you I seriously wanted to shoot myself. I kept thinking this CAN'T be natural...if we grew it, maybe we are suppose to have it. Here i am trying to look like i'm 12 again, and my Irish Italian bf is as hairy as bigfoot! What is up with that??? Talk about double standards! I don't see him in here shaving down there and worrying if he will knick the balls. Of sparing me his carpet on his chest! Let's not even talk about the legs!!! I see it like this, if a guy wants us to shave, it is only fair they endure this hell as well and no face hair don't count! I'm talking about getting in weird potions to reach hard to reach places. I'm talking about getting cuts under your arams because you played it a little to close. They want us to look like we never saw a day of puberty, hell we should demand the same of them. If it didn't turn him on so damn much, I would let my hair grow back in the muff area and just braid it when need be. LOL

this isn't really shaving -- but it has to do with a little area that some of us shave...

i was in hair salon supply store today -- and as i was checking out i turned and saw a stand with something called color for your betty...

It was hair color for your pubic hair... i had to laugh - simply because the colors were bright pink, neon orange, blue... I can just imagine getting all ready to have sex and your "betty" is neon orange... my guy would have that WTF kind of look...

So would mine...they actually make a dye for that??? Well, I'm bald now, so I can't try out the purple...I think that would look nice against my brown skin. LOL That is a trip...now I have seen it all. LOL

i kid you not... there is even a dye for that --
notice they dont have one for guys - just girls --

Well, here I am you knew Id show up some time right?

The chattering loner in this sea of shaved, semi-shaved, would-be-shaved-if women

Although, I do, in fact, completely agree that legs, shortly after some shaving and lotioning and all, do feel absolutely fabulous and if I came like that, Id be pretty ecstatic about it, but I dont

(one of my ex-boyfriends did though and let me tell you, he had some serious silky soft skin yeah, that was good )

Okay I'm back ... and just for all y'all here at I Am Woman, I whipped up this lovely little list:

Top Ten Reasons Why I Dont Shave:

1. because I cannot justify the time involved in it, theres not enough hours in a day

2. because its an absolute pain, as well as often painful

3. because I always used to cut myself shaving in the damn shower cause Im blind as
a bat without my lenses and, besides that, every time I shaved my pits I got massive
razor-burn

4. because, (as clich as this sounds, and, believe me, I know it sounds clich) I
really do believe were all okay just the way we are and in extension of that

5. because I refuse to contribute to the destructive mentality produced and
propagated by the manufacturers and corporations, who are so terribly good at
making us feel like we need whatever they are selling in order to be
(a) beautiful
(b) happy
(c) worthy
(d) successful
(e) loved
(f) all of the above

6. because men arent asked to, much less just expected to, maintain a hairless,
silken body for us but we are expected to maintain one for them or even the
possibility of them

7. because there really does seem to be this disturbing correlation between shaving
being sexy and it making us look more like little girls deeply disturbing

8. because I have issues with authority and refuse to do what others tell me to or,
even worse, expect me to do without even being told

9. because it makes me feel bad about myself: like Im trying to be something Im not

10. because Im not really interested in being intimately involved with anyone for
whom outside appearances are the deciding factor in what they
(a) choose
(b) want
(c) desire
(d) value
(e) love
(f) all of the above

Ah, that was fun I think I'll go shave my head now ...

as an adendum ... cause i feel like i shut this thread down and that was not my intention in any way shape or form ... i was really glad to see this being discussed ... and i have no agenda about whether other people shave or do not shave ... i figure it's a pretty damn personal decision and completely agree that it feels nice and can be sexy ... i just cannot justify it to myself personally ... but that's me ...

it's kind of sad that this thread was getting so much response and now it seems that it is not ... why is that, do you think? is it just coincidence? or was it something i said or how i said what i said ... maybe my attempt at humor intwined with honesty just didn't hit the mark on this ... not sure ...

part of me feels like i should remove my prior post so that you all will feel free to continue talking about this ... but that makes me feel like it would just be perpetuating a one-sided discussion ... with all the various shades of one side being represented and none of the other ...

oh well, for now, i'll leave it be ... i'm off to ireland in a few days and won't be back until mid-july ... here's to you, here's to me, and every other in between ... peace

SHAVE!!
lol was thinking of other areas when i read the title :p we are all women here hehe :p
no shave indeed, i have the luck that i'm blonde (well in this case i'm lucky to be lol) so my legs don't ever get too hairy, but i shave them at least once every two weeks, now that may seem little, but my hair has the tendency not to show but after a week, and even then you don't see or feel it so i don't need to shave alot.
I mostly use my epilady, but when i'm lazy i stick to razor and razormousse :p the epilady doesn't remove all the hairs because they're just too well i dunno, thin and soft i guess.
So ladies, are your legs the only thing that should be shaved? O.O

Marie...you did not shut the thread down. If it seem that way I am sorry. I personally loved your post and agreed with the part we should as women be allowed to be in our natural hairy state. This group is about honesty and being who you really are. Don't change yourself or views to get a response. And as I said, since it turns my guy on so much, I'll keep shaving. If I was single, I let this s**t grow like ZZ Top.

and not to spam but...

I totally agree with her. However, I shaved once, then for some reason I developed a compulsive need to do so frequently. Plus I like the tingly feel when freshly shaved legs rub against my flannel pj pants. ::biggrin:: ::tongue::
