[no subject]16 Years AgoHello. Thank you for the invite. I have only had a few small things published, nothing major. Mainly school papers that the editor of asked me to write a few things for. Other then that, this is all new to me.

[no subject]16 Years AgoHello all! I'm kera! I've never been published before...I'd really like to some day maybe though, I love to write and I think it'd be really awesome to get published. ^^; I draw to though so yeah, I don't know how to get into any of this kinda stuff. It seems kinda fun and interesting though, I love writing poetry. I write stories too, just most are pretty long and no where near done XD. Ah, I need a lot more practice at grammar and conventions, I am kinda bad at it. So yeah idk I wanna learn about publishing so that I know what I'm getting myself into. Keep in mind I'm only 14 and its hard for me to just go out and spend money to do stuff, because I can't make money very well! XD I'm not old enough to get a job.
Then again from what I understand, theres no age limit on writers ^.~ |

[no subject]16 Years AgoHi there, and thank you for the invite. To my knowledge I've never been published except for school literary magazines, and a yearbook. And that was a while ago, lol. To be honest, I've never thought that much about it. Of course it would be awesome if I was, but I have no idea how I would even go about having poetry published. So that being said, I will just hang around in the shadows and observe for a bit, if that is okay. |

[no subject]16 Years AgoHey all, I was trying to edit my last posting containing the old (my crappy version) web address and I couldn't do it because the advertisement was blocking it. Anyways I just wanted to post the actual one. It is the same as the group cover page;
Make sure you tell your friends!

[no subject]16 Years AgoMy husband and I write fiction novels, eight thus far: historical, action/adventure, romance and humor. After several attempts at getting published traditionally via publishing house, etc we hired a reputable literary agent. After a year of no bites we dropped the agent, converted our books to digital formats and started a website with PayPal & Payloadz comb for instant sales/eBook delivery. Over 500 clients later after 17 months in business, the website and hours of subtle promoting and sending of free chapters has paid for itself many times over. For unknown authors wih a new website and zero advertising budget, its nothing to sneeze at. Already avialble on all handhelds via MobiPocket, and in the Kindle Store, we'll soon be avaialble on iPhones worldwide. We used formats such as Writerscafe and FictionPress to get reviews and focus group informaiton, as well as valuable editing services, for free. As technology progresses, ebooks are beocmeing more user-friendly. The traditional publishing houses have taken so long to recognize the potential market that they may well be playing catch-up for soem time. A friend of ours did a well-researched blog on this issue last year and kindle mentioned out burgeoning company as part of new companies taking advantage of the new market.

[no subject]16 Years AgoNot published yet. Looking for an agent. I've completed a 410 page fantasy novel and sent it to DAW, who very kindly told me to go pound sand. I have the sneaking suspicion they didn't get past the query letter. I hate query letters. If anyone (a practacing agent would be nice!) would care to view mine and crit it, I'd apprecitateit. |

[no subject]16 Years AgoHey everyone, and thanks for the invite.
I've been writing for as long as I can remember, and I don't think I've ever been published. I try and write everything - novels, short stories, and poetry. I'd love to get some of my work published, although I've never actually finished a novel. I think my best bet is my poetry, or maybe my short stories. I'd love to know what you folks think of my work, and I intend to submit some to that portion of this group. With a little luck, I could find myself published! Good luck to all, and I hope to talk to you later :) |

[no subject]16 Years AgoThanks for the invite. I look forward to working with this group as we walk the same path toward our final destinations. I am self-published recently. I chose createspace. The book is available through an e-store and Amazon.com The Children's Civil War Alphabet Book I'm working on the next book in a series which is tentatively titled. Almost Christmas, in 1862 Kentucky. Old Seventy Creek Press has offered to publish a volume of my poetry later this year. But it is too soon to tell. We'll just have to wait and see on that one.
Kind regards, Emily Burns |

[no subject]16 Years AgoMy name is Jason "Lalli", my author name and stage name is Lalli. I am a poet/spoken word artist. Thank you for the invite. I have been published but only self published on LuLu.com. It worked very well for me and on a bulk order the prices were reasonable. I am wanting to get a literary agent, any suggestions?..

[no subject]16 Years AgoHi, My name is Phibby. I live in Virgnia & I have been published in numerous
anthologies, mags, e'zines & journals. Most of my work so far has been created while caring for my children, elderly, and dogs. I am chronically poor, but excited about life most of the time. I have never been out of the South..the mountains being a beautiful shelter that holds things both in and out. I had a book published by my college, one by the community action agency where I worked,(the proceeds went to help supply indoor plumbing to the area poor), and one small chapbook by Poetrybay in New York, a magazine managed by George Wallace. I have two books out now at Lulu. It did not cost anything and they split the profits, if magic occurs and a book sells. They are entitled, Blue Cold Morning & There Is A White Girl. I love the Writer's Cafe & this group seems like a fine one!! |

[no subject]16 Years AgoHi, I'm J. P., and I'm new here :D I haven't been published yet, but I'm getting there. One of my poems has been accepted into an anthology, and I am waiting on the contract. But as of right now, no, I'm not in print. I've been sending out stories to all sorts of magazines, and it has finally dawned on me that the reason that I'm not being published, lies in the fact that I write in a very 19th century/Early 20th century, literary style, and that's not exactly the thing that contemporary sci-fi/fantasy magazines are looking for. OKay, enough about me :D Hello writing world! Here I come! |

[no subject]16 Years AgoHi! New member here.
Well, I'm not sure on how to answer this... I guess that my publishings have been both a coincidence and a conscious decision to publish. Let me elaborate (and please forgive my English, as I am from Mexico and English is not my mother tongue). Most of my work (short story, novel, and poetry) has been done in Spanish. The publishing of these pieces have been in anthologies made either by the INBA (that's the National Institute for the Arts in Mexico) or the ICHICULT (the Cultural Institute of the state of Chihuahua) and I say it's a coincidence because I never request to be added to these anthologies, I just am. The on-line work has been in English and it has been done in lulu (in the end I decided to un-post it) and in Fanfiction.net/Fictionpress.net. I've also done NaNoWriMo for two or three years... and I find that sites like this one (writer's cafe) greatly help people who, like me, need some pointers in their English writing skills. I am currently working on a short story book in Spanish to be submitted to a publishing house in Mexico (Tierra Adentro). Cross fingers. |

[no subject]16 Years AgoI've had a couple of articles published but nothing in book form. I'm not in it for the money or fame. I only write because I love telling a story. I've ran websites in the past that displayed my work and I've handed out what seems like thousands of copies to people who ask. The only reason I look to publish is so that instead of handing someone a pile of 200 pages from the printer, I can just hand them a book (plus it costs me more in paper and ink than it would cost me to hand them a $6 or $7 book).
I don't anticipate making any money from it and I definitely do not want any kind of fame (though it is pretty cool to see your name on the cover of something). Basically I write pieces that I would enjoy reading myself - they are quick, funny, weird and just plain fun. Amazingly I have some sort of following and I have no clue as to why. It's because of that, that I've decided to publish. I have no problems giving my book away for free because like I said, I'm not looking to make money... I write because I love to. If people find my work amusing and enjoy it, then that's awesome and I'm glad I was able to entertain them.
To the couple of other posts I've seen in this thread concerning writers like myself - rock on! I've found that the writing industry is a lot like the movie industry. You have your huge blockbuster movies and you have your independents. The blockbuster Hollywood movies make a ton more cash but the independents definitely have the better story line and acting. The same goes with books - I've read some of the big authors and was not blown away or amused. Then I've read some smaller and lesser known artists and was AMAZED!
I guess what I'm trying to say is, do what you do best and go your own path. Don't let people dictate how you want your work presented. It'd be great to write a Best Seller but it's be just as great, if not greater, to publish something you're proud of and you know is 100% you.

[no subject]16 Years AgoNot Sure how I got invited to join this group honestly but I thought "what the hell... why not..."
No, not published. In fact rather wary about it all.
I was recently made to accept the fact that at one point in my life I was a writer. I have had a few stories claw and fight their way out of my mind and on to the computer. I haven't written anything in about 7 years. Now, I have written a few things but not much of consequence. I decided to publish on here to give back to the world that I read from all the time. I hope you find something fun here with me in my world of quirky characters. But if not, at least you didn't have to spend money on buying a book or something...Right? So, until we meet again may you find what it is in this word that moves your soul and be captivated by it... -CP |
