I've never been published, I'm actually new to writing. I hope one day I'm good enough for that but I'm starting off thinking if nothing else, I can charge my nieces and nephews to write school papers for them :)

honestly I do enjoy writing and I hope to graduate from poetry to stories and even a novel. Right now I lack the discipline to write a complete book though. I hope to talk to all of you soon and good luck in your endeavors.

I have not been published yet, but I know I will be soon!  I am a regency romance lover and enjoy researching and learing about that time period.  Take a look at my stuff and let me know what you think.   Kitty

Hello, new member. I've had short stories published in Freedom Fiction which is an online pulp magazine. I haven't seen print yet. It makes me sad.

Hey everyone, I am far from ready to be professionally published, but I am interested in self publishing, and was wondering if anybody could give me some insight to LuLu.com. I've been on the website and it  seems really great, but thats the problem- sort of too good to be true, ya know? Anyway, if anybody has experience (good or bad) with LuLu, please let me know. Thank you!

When I was in high school, I had two poems published in anthologies, but nothing since. I write mostly short stories now, but am working on my first novel. I never intended it to be one, but the story took on a life of it's own, so I went with it. It is actually a piece of fan fiction I'm writing for my friend, but once I am finished, I am going to edit/re-write for a book. I have been working on it off-and-on for about a year now, so I'm sure it will take some time to complete.

Hi, I'm Scott and I was published this month in a compilation book titled "Xangans". Unfortunately the experience was a bit disheartening as the editorial work on the book was... everything poetry related was altered to a significant degree. None of us were given a chance to review the published versions of our writing (though we had been asked to proof our works before submission), nor were any of the contributors compensated in any way.

My best advice is that if anyone is approached for addition to a compilation/anthology, or given an opportunity for publication, be sure you are being compensated in some manner. Do not give your work out freely, and be sure that any contract drawn does not strip you of the rights to your work. Thankfully, all of us retained our rights.

As sad as I am by how my work was represented, I'm thankful to have finally been published. I've shared my original work "Pane" on my WC page, and will eventually post "Sip" there as well. If you're curious to read the other works, I do still recommend people check out the book.

As for myself, I consider myself to be an amateur writer. I enjoy writing dark fiction, horror, and assorted forms of poetry. I'm currently working on accruing enough poetry to put together a poetry book. I'm also working on a novel (formerly a novella) titled "By The River". I've had the idea for it for a few years now, and I've only been able to get as far as the first chapter. Mostly due to editing the style of the story excessively until I'd found how I wanted to write it.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my writing, so getting anything major done takes me a LONG time. I'm currently doing touch-up work on a short Poe/Lovecraft styled short story titled "The Sickly Thing" and will be posting it to WC once done.

My first exposure to publishing was winning the Santa Fe New Mexican Holdiay writing contest.  I won first prize in the short story category.  This was published.  I am now about to be published in Ink Bean and Raphael's Village.  Struggling to find an agent but very few will even look at the work, let alone represent it.  Always looking for guidence.

In the UK there seems to be a choice of get published by a traditional press or pay for your book and hope you can sell a few. I am told there is a company setting up which will publish your book at their cost as long as it's good enough, but will want you to sell their books in return, recover your cost and earn commission, like a sales rep or an Avon lady? If you have a good book and can sell it seems quite good. Does anyone know of a similar project elsewhere in Europe or the US?
Do you think it is a good idea?
regards, Eoin

Hi All,

"Charlie and the Perfect Wife" is due to be published in April. Really pleased with the cover and the support I have received from the publisher (based in Nottingham, UK) and they are paying all the costs although they are a very small press. Will let you know how I get on, and how much of the selling depends on me!

Best Eoin

No. Sadly, my once fiery passion and confidence in my writing has gone way down. Though I admit some of my work is fairly good, it's not close to publishing status. But I hope to someday....my goal is to infiltrate the publishing company and publish my own work O.o :D
But seriously, maybe one day I can.

Yo.
I am still unpublished. Despite my hard work and earnest effort, I have yet to find an agent who thinks my work is worthy of their attention. The book that I mainly pushed for, however, wasn't exactly worth their time. I went over the novel and it wasn't very well written and I'm okay with that. I'm re-writing it. Although, it's even more disheartening when publishers and agents claim to be looking for new authors but reject every manuscript that comes their way.

As of late, I've been working on something called "A Careless Man's Careful Daughter". Though I've only written half of it, I am confident that this could be the book that gets me noticed. It's VERY well written, descriptive and contains a plot and twists that are sure to take one's breath away. I haven't queried for it yet out of fear of rejection. I'm at my writing peak for 23 years-old and if someone were to shut me down while in the process, or even after finishing, this work...I think it'd destroy me.

Here's hoping...
