[no subject]16 Years AgoIn 1974, when I first got into self-publishing, I read a book by Poynter called Self-Publishing.
You might want to look for it. Self-publishing can go either of two ways: with a P.O.D. publisher (print on demand) like lulu.com where I have a book for sale, or with a local printer whom you pay to run off copies. I prefer the second method, but it is costly, even though the profit is good. In 1998 my book a Family of Sicilians... cost be about $4,000 to print 1,000 copies. I sold them all, less the books I gave away to reviewers, and made a profit of nearly $10,000.00. Now that I am retired, I cannot afford ventures like that. I put that same book up at lulu.com and it did not cost me a cent; however, I have so far only made about $200 in royalties. Sal |

[no subject]16 Years AgoHi Sal, Regarding your interesting comment on self-publishing-How did you sell the 4,000 copies you had printed- how did you market your book so effectively without Lulu.com? Cheers |
