The Review Club Forum Looking for a phrase

Looking for a phrase that would be synonymous with getting a spanking in the 70's-80's. But I don't want it to be too direct like I'm going to whoop you a*s. I want it to be a recurring theme as one of my characters starts to loose his mind. As he starts to degenerate into a bad, violent, husband and father.

The phrase is what his grandfather would say to him when he would give him drunken spankings from ages 3-6.

I was thinking something like: Men are made boy not born. I'm gunna make man out of you... You wissin up ? I see I have got some teaching to do. Come here and learn your lessons.... Non of that really jives though.


The grandfather would be an exmilitary officer, in his late 50's, and of southern descent.

If you have any suggestions I'd appreciate it.

Come 'ere boy, I'm going to give you a licking. I'm gonna knock you clear across the room.

Well William that's a little too direct. I think I may have to dive a little further into the grandfather's mind. It's like the perfect line is on the tip of my mind but It just won't come out. Not too big of a deal as I have plenty more to write before I get to the point where it's needed. But I know I need this piece. And I need it to be more than it is.

On a side note I'm loving the chapter 2 that I'm writing. It's wonderful when things click together. It's like magic. I know I have to go deeper and bring more of the story to the surface but that's for revisions :)

Go out in the yard and get a switch. (As in get a thin branch from the tree and peel it, to get whipped with.)
