Hi everyone. I'm Phil Kuhlman. I work mostly in the Horror genre, simply because I enjoy the freedome the genre has, how a horror story can be a comedy, action, scifi, romance, etc etc. I'm also a stage actor here in my little town of Kerrville, Texas. I had won an outstanding actor award here two years straight, but then I got sidelined before I could work for a third this last year by a nasty injury. It turned out that what the hospital told me was just a neck sprain was actually a ewing sarcoma tumor that had attached to my vertebrae following two whiplash injuries. So I walked around, worked, and acted with a broken neck for a full year before it paralyzed me last easter and the docs finally checked and found it. Thankfully a neck surgery restored my ability to move, the tumor had nearly destroyed all of the t1-t3 vertebrae by the time it was found, and within a few more months I should be walking almost normally again. Also good news, the cancer is in remission thanks to the chemo and the hard work of the cancer care center of america branch here in town.

All of that stuff is part of why I write horror, because horror isn't going to make you feel bad. It's going to, in it's most perfect form, give you a start, maybe startle you a bit, but it'll give you that "I was just scared" laugh and smile after, and for just a second all the real life horrors out there disappear in place of a good spook and smile.

If anyone needs reviews, feel free to ask, and I of course love them myself, it's hard to catch my little errors due to chemobrain *still lingering but not as bad since the chemo is done* and it's never bad to find out if one of my stories is at the very least fun to read. Can anyone ask for more from their work, or recieve a better compliment for something they put out to entertain the people around them?

Hi,

I am new to this site and this group. My name is Nanda and I've loved to write from the moment I was taught how to write (at the age of 2). I'm 19 years old now and I live in The Netherlands. My native language is Dutch, but I write in both Dutch and English.

I'm looking forward to getting to know other people who enjoy writing as much as I do.

Hey!

I'm Amelia, I'm eighteen, Canadian, and I've been writing since I was seven, but seriously since I was about twelve (but everything I wrote at that age makes me gag now, predictably). I just found this place, and it seems pretty cool, and it's nice to have a spot on the vast internet to concentrate just on my writing.

Oh, and I'm in love with NaNoWriMo.

Anyways, have a super day!

My name is Ashley. I am fifteen years old and I have been an avid writer all my life, which first began with my affection for reading. I had a passion for reading, was the kind of person who spent my weekends hiding somewhere quiet with my nose in a book for hours on end.
I had a brain injury in 2006 and lost my main ability to concentrate and stay focused  on one thing for long periods of time without getting distracted.
I do not know why it is, but Writing began to hold more interest too me than reading did. I read very little nowadays, but write a lot.
I have begun an Autobiography which I will not share on Writers Cafe as it is still a bit personal and a big work in progress. I do not know if I will ever look into getting it published. It is called The Story of a Prayer and describes events that have taken place in my life over the last three years.
I write little snippets of prose that compare who I am to where I live. They depict a scene in my life, perhaps a sunset where I live or a walk along the shores of Lake Powell, and metaphorically, while describing whats happening, describe who I am. I hope to someday have enough too put together in a collection, a book I will call "Lifescape." My life to the landscape here. When I have inspiration to write, it is usually because of the land here.
I decided to take a break from my inspiration and the facts of my life and try a little bit of fiction, let my imagination do some work. I have begun a fictional trilogy called Len Asmara. It is the primary focus of my work right now, and I have been put in touch with a Literary agent. I don't know where that will per say lead, but maybe someday I will have it published. You will be able to read chapters from Len Asmara here on Writers Cafe.
It is sort of... Fantasy meets Indian tribes one hundred years ago, meets Celtic Renaissance. If you would like to know more about Len Asmara, the storyline, or the fundamentals and spoilers of the series, let me know. I am open to new ideas and constructive criticism.

Hope to make some friends here. Thank you for your time.

Hi,   Only found out that writing can be fun and liberating 6 months ago. In that time, I have started several books, and completed one. Please stop by my profile to check out my writing. Being new to the trade, I would love some advice from experienced writers. In return, I'd be very glad to write reviews on your writing.    GN :)

Stepping in to say hello. I'm an old member who left some time ago and has returned. Some work was lost on my previous profile, discouraged me from the site and then life took hold of me and took me away from writing for a while.

My muse has returned along with my thirst to write. I attended college as a Writing and English major. Never finished due to a lack of funds and debt that kept piling up. That was in 2008. No worries, however. I continue to write and now have ambitions to start working on my first novel.

I enjoy writing poetry and short stories, among other styles. I was an editor for my college paper and even interned at The Morning Call in Allentown, PA for a spell. Journalism is enjoyable, but I prefer my creative side.

I look forward to becoming active within the site again and seeing what you all have to offer. Take a gander at my words. You may like them. You may hate them. Either way, we're all here to write and help one another.

Cheers
-Dale

Hello fellow writer's. I am new to this site and still learning my way around.

I've been writing all my life, but have been working seriously on my craft and voice for the last year or so. I have several pieces that I am trying to polish. Bits of them have been posted on this site. I'd love to share them with you all and welcome any feedback.
