Feed Back Please? Mind of An Assasin: Chapter One

For some reason, my memory is foggy and I have no sense of what has happened to me. I must have been in some sort of accident because it seems as if I’m in a hospital room. What’s going on? I search around the room but see no sign of anyone at first. My clothes are stripped off with a hospital dress attached to my body. Monitors surround the room, one for reading heart rate another for blood pressure. An IV was placed in the center vein of my hand. Something’s wrong here, I don’t feel any pain. I actually feel normal. Suddenly, a man walks up from behind me. “Emilia Lilyana you’re awake.” He leans down on the side of my bed picking up a chart. “Hmm, you are in great shape health wise. This procedure should go without complications.” Before he could walk away, I gently grab his arm. “Wait! Why am I here? What’s going on?” The doctor places a hand on my shoulder, “Just relax, this will all be over before you know it”. That is where I begin to freak out. I reach for my IV attempting to pull it out however, the doctor and his assistants notice. Trying my best, I worked as quickly as I could. “Hold her down!” the doctor yelled. The nurses grip my body tightly trying to keep me from kicking and screaming. Another person turns around with a needle in hand, they push the needle directly into my IV. “Just count down from ten, you won’t feel a thing” the doctor says. Slowly the voices start to fade out. I’m sound asleep and when I wake up I will no longer be the Emilia Lilyana everyone once knew. After this procedure is done, I will be someone unfamiliar, new, evil, and out for blood.             Frequent foot vibrations rumbling beneath me alerted me to wake up from my deep sleep. Wooh! What happened to my vision? Everything in my peripheral seems to be so close. I look down at my hands my vision beaming in and out. I feel like I have binoculars on just inside my lens. There’s a man pacing back and forth, I guess he doesn’t know that I’m up.  This guy is medium built; you could tell by the way his dark suit fitted him. He appeared to be at least in his mid-40s. His full mouth beard looked an off black color. He stood beside my bed looking out the window, his dark shades hiding his eyes. “Emilia what a pleasure it is to finally meet you. I didn’t get a chance to see you before the procedure with so much things for me to take care of. Now I get to sit and talk business with you”.  Staring him directly in the eyes, I asked “Who are you? Why do I feel so different?” Sliding a stool beside my bed he sat down. “My name is Alonzo Valdez. You are now a new employee of my business Globex. My company is tight nit and under the radar which means not many people know about us”. Being in such a confused state of mind I asked the obvious, “If I work for you why don’t I remember applying? Or even going to an interview? How did I get into this secluded room?” Mr. Valdez cleared his throat exasperated. “Emilia, Emilia so many questions with not nearly enough time to answer them. I’ll make this simple and to the point. I recruited you to work for my company, this is why you had this particular procedure done. My specialist have implanted a microchip inside your brain to alter the mind. The microchip is unique because it gives our recruits unique abilities. These abilities are ones you couldn’t obtain before. As you probably can tell already, your body can sense human movements from a 1 mile distance in every direction. Your vision is near and clear you can spot someone a mile away without even using binoculars. Also, you should find that your cat-like reflexes are at the rate of sonic speed”. He can’t be serious, is it even humanly possible to do all of these things at once? My mind is spiraling, too much to process. I shake my head in misperception, “What exactly is my title at this company? What will I be doing?” I questioned. Mr. Valdez grinned, “You will become an executioner or in other words an assassin. We give you time to recover from the procedure then we train you. Your training will be a 12 week intense period where we test your limits as well as push them to their full potential. By the end of your training period you will think, function and complete task like a professional assassin.” Swallowing my saliva down slowly I took a moment to think.  Why would anyone want to become an assassin? What joy could come out of that? “What about my family? What about my old life?” I was nervous to ask but needed to. Mr. Valdez crest his chin, “They won’t even know you still exist, we took care of that after we decided to recruit you. Your family will be safe. They will continue living their normal lives while you Emilia will live this life we created for you”. He quickly glances at his cellphone and from his facial expression I can tell it must be an important matter. “I have to go now. You should enjoy the time you have to relax. Your training starts in the next few days. One of my workers will take you to the location. Nice speaking with you”. The next minute I know he is gone, leaving me in the room alone.             The following days during my recovery I did nothing but eat, sleep, and make crafts out of cutting wood. I can’t stop thinking about what Mr. Valdez said to me. A life without my family sounds horrifying yet, I was looking forward to the training for my job. I always wanted to prove that I could get through any challenges that came my way and here was one. I would have to train day and night to become the best assassin in the business. To actually be proud of something like that is scary. I got up out of my bed to go to the bathroom. For the first time I took a really good look at my face. It was unusual what I saw in the mirror. Of course it was a reflection of myself but, something changed. My eyes were a penetrating aqua color. I was formally born with brown eyes, why would they change into an aqua color now? It’s the microchip! It really has altered my mind and body as well. Touching the temples of my forehead I run my hands down my soft, pure skin. The beauty mark sitting on the right side of my mouth makes my face stand out. I ran my fingers through my short black hair. It’s smooth and sleek. I’m surprise to know that the person I am glaring at in the mirror is no longer someone I know or even recognize. I wish I would have had more time with my family, tell them how much I love and care for them. It would be ridiculous for them to assume I left the country or went my own way and never wanted to speak to them again. No matter how much I am worried about the past, it is important to remember this is my life now. Even though I did not choose to live this sort of life, I will become a trained assassin and there is nothing I can do about it now. I smirk at myself in the mirror while stroking my hair. It’s time to get focused, training starts tomorrow.
