A Good Bye: poem written deali..
A Good Bye: poem written dealing with our mom's alzheimer's disease; I welcome reviews10 Years AgoReluctant to walk this path yet knew the day would come To let all go and fall away -- a loss that has no end. The past slips, its colors fade, I try to pull it back, as with a heavy, large blanket that has fallen to the floor. But sadly, it disappears, leaving only memories. Pictures forming now in tender tears and talk. An acceptance of this even remotely being real only leaves the question: what ever will be next? |

I want to tell you how much I like this poem. It's sensitive, tender, sad. I just went through the same thing almost two years ago. Writing is a wonderful tool for expressing the incredible suffering Alzheimer's brings to an individual or a family. Steppenwolf |

Re: A Good Bye: poem written dealing with our mom's alzheimer's disease; I welcome reviews10 Years AgoThis poem is beautiful in the way that it is so simple, yet so emotionally profound. You don't use a rhyme scheme or any fancy literary elements, but you don't need to. Sometimes it's the simple images, like that of a heavy blanket that has fallen to the floor, that mean the most. Those are the things that express your deepest personal understanding of things - they are what you visualize when you are going through intense situations, and they stick with you, even if they don't always make sense. However, on some level, everyone can comprehend what you're getting at with these images. I'm not sure if I'm making any sense right now, but your poem touched me deeply. I will be praying for you and your mom.
