I'm starting on a new young adult novel. Where my main character Mali lives in a post apocalyptic world in the land of Ocrana. In which people of color are oppressed under a caste system. With whites being superior and ruling over the land and Blacks (called ferals by other castes) struggling on the very bottom. Mali is of mixed race so she struggles to fit in and is still dealing with the disappearance of her mom. Her, her brother Amal, and her uncle scrape by. But, when a mysterious girl shows up with information that could threatened to destroy everything she's ever known and a boy she can't seem to get out of her head starts to make her question her own beliefs. Mali must make a choice continue on life as is or erupt the beginning of a rebellion.
