Dialogue Variation
Dialogue Variation19 Years AgoI've noticed in dialogue when I don't think about it I write too many "he said, she said." I've been trying to pay more attention to that in my writing. What are ways you introduce who is speaking or at least how you let the reader know who's speaking (I know it's not always at the beginning).

[no subject]19 Years Agowell, you can have 2 people speaking , introduce them and then have the first one start, list his/her name. then you can just let them talk and it should fit together.
such as : one day down at the docks I was talking to pablo and he told me about miss spence. Pablo said to me , do you know what it is to love a woman? not really I replied , but I have a general idea. I am not talking about laying her down you young fool. Then what do you mean? To truly love a woman you must show her your love. What the hell are you talking about? He looked at me with those wild eyes of his and a smile began in the corner of his mouth. To love a woman , young one is to show her how much you care , you must devote your soul to her, you must not .... Okay that was getting too long, I just made that up and kept going with it , I dont know if that helps, but I tried not to think too much as I was writing. Usually while I am not writing I am thinking about writing I envision certain situations in my head and I have converstions with people , running through the situation if every thing they could come up with. Of course I do this with any confrontation I will be facing , mainly because I am obsessive compulsive and I have always done it. I just cant help doing this , it helps to keep me from getting as nervous, because I have run through how I will start out a conversation and I am prepared. I dont know if any of my psychotic rambling helped you , but maybe some one else will post too. |

And yeah I do the same thing actually. You notice it never goes exactly how you plan it out in your head? Or you just don't get to say what you planned to say or you totally forgot it when you got to that situation? |
