How does this premise for a high school novel sound?11 Years AgoHi everyone. I'm new to this site and I'm working on a novel about seniors in high school during the summer (the summer before senior year). It's going to be dark, but not to a point where it's downright bleak. So if you could tell me what you think of this premise or if it would interest you, I would greatly appreciate it. Positive and negative feedback is always welcome. Of course this is a very basic outline of the plot.
The main character is Kevin Cliff, a smart and nerdy high school student. He was dating the girl of his dreams who was way out of his league, but after a big falling out and break up with her, he goes into a depression. Even worse is that this falling out ruins his reputation with girls at his school. Kevin's best friend, Parker advises him to see a prostitute to make him feel better. Kevin reluctantly tries his advice and he meets one girl four years older than him, Natalie. He starts to really connect with her and they begin to learn from each other. However, Natalie's pimp, Wilson, doesn't want his girls hooking up with minors, so he threatens Kevin and Natalie. Now Kevin has bigger problems than depression; he might have entered a territory that will put him in danger. There are also subplots of Kevin's best other friend dating Stephanie causing tension between the two and Kevin's attempt to turn the lives of the prostitutes around. |
