Got that 'end of the world' fe..
Got that 'end of the world' feeling?5 Years AgoHi Guys! I'm Nolo, I'm 73, so yeah, probably a lot older than most of you. Been wondering how you all are coping with a relentless media-hyped fear about Covid-19? This is my 2nd go round with a feeling of potential doom--I was 15 during the Cuban missile crisis in 1962 when for about a week it really did seem the world was going to get blown up. As one of my favorite poets puts it: 'All fear finds its home in the fear of death.' |

Re: Got that 'end of the world' feeling?5 Years AgoHey- and that doesn’t matter much ahah, the age. You’re all welcome.
Being as this is my first isolation (I am almost 17) it is mostly confusing. I am a Christian, and I’m not saying I think this is the rapture (because I don’t) it just makes me think. What will the end of the world look like? Does it start with sickness? War? Genocide?
When you’re alone with your thoughts, they grow uncontrollable; like a demon slowly getting too much power. Just building up until it consumes you

Re: Got that 'end of the world' feeling?5 Years AgoLike many, I am finding it hard to deal with the "end of the world feeling." I try not to watch too much TV in the morning. Today, it wasn't too bad but once they got into the politics of it, my husband and I had to move on. We are being super careful and clean when we go out and when we return with groceries and other items. From what we have been hearing, this virus should peak by the end of April and then, most of us can get back to normality. But, for everyone, it has been a tremendous struggle! I send my best to everyone! |

Re: Got that 'end of the world' feeling?5 Years AgoThe more
civilized humans became, building cities and forging trade routes to connect
with other cities, and waging wars with them, the more likely pandemics became.
The list:
430BC Athens,
165 AD Antonine Plague, 250 AD Cyprian Plague, 541 Justinian Plague, 11th
Century Leprosy, 1350 Black death, 1492 The Columbian Exchange, 1665 Great
plague of London, 1817 First Cholera Pandemic, 1855 The third Plague Pandemic,
1875 Fiji Measles Pandemic, 1889 Russian Flu, 1918 Spanish Flu, 1957 Asian Flu,
1981 HIV/AIDS, 2003 SARS and now 2019/20 COVID-19
But we are
still here – and still learning! Stay safe and well everyone... :-)

Re: Got that 'end of the world' feeling?5 Years AgoLike many, I am feeling "closed in" because it is so hard to go out and get what is needed. I am being super clean once home and trying to keep busy. Reading, writing articles, cleaning and viewing some fun things online and on TV; are helping a great deal.
But most importantly, I try to focus on God and not this virus. He is in control and when I do that, the worry subsides. Also, I just try to take one day at a time. Helps a bunch! Toni |

Re: Got that 'end of the world' feeling?5 Years AgoI'm really at odds at this entire ordeal, which has frankly been blown out of proportion. I'm not saying this out of frustration for the infected, no! I'm saying this because the media is all abuzz in nothing but the coronavirus, and the celebrities that have afflicted it. I'm positive that these politicians, like Boris Johnson, and other people in power have information about this virus that we don't. ~Sanjeev Nanda |

Wife said "Well they are all Japanese and we can't go yet we have three weeks for the boat The day we were locked down I had called the medics > No cough, sneezes, fever. But I cannot use my limbs they are extremely painful doing nothing Nurse cam with some pills & took blood tests Do not leave the house > Still here > My immune system was attacking my body - Two weeks to next blood test I did sit outside in the sun (30 mins) yesterday with cap & coat on |

Re: Got that 'end of the world' feeling?5 Years AgoI bet you are confused 84 & never met anything as bad as this
I am filling my time with drawing from photos (Water colour pencils) Also I have an historical novel on the way I have got so into it now I am beginning to believe it is real _ well it is based on my family history I started it to keep my mind active & also to pass on to my sisters family - tell them where we came from (as a family) before it is lost forever > Neither of my sister know anything about it |

Re: Got that 'end of the world' feeling?5 Years AgoI can relate to you; I am your age. The media is hyping this up so bad. To stay sane, I think one must listen only a limited amount of time to what they say. Do what you can to stay safe and well, hold fast to your belief in God and take one day at a time. It's rough, for sure but there will be an end to it.

Re: Got that 'end of the world' feeling?5 Years AgoA few things. This is a weird time and yeah, it can sometimes feel like the end of the world. I am kind of disappointing really. I am 17 and I was kinda hoping for a zombie apocalypse or something dramatic. To go out like this would be quite boring. However, in all real honesty, I think we will be fine. I am young, so I am biased, but we will pull through this. Just don't snap under the pressure and start killing people, because then others will soon follow. Don't resort to cannibalism if one of your family members forget to make a run to the store.Don't join any murderous cults. But hey, if you do any of the above, lemme know. I need some new material :)

Re: Got that 'end of the world' feeling?5 Years AgoHahah! ItStaredBack, haha that’s funny. But cannabalism isnt new material. I rather kill myself than get killed off by sickness, if you know what I mean. No way I’m going out so dull, just being a victim of this horrible thing. Something that kills you from the inside is not my idea of a good death. I rather it be gory and glorious. Blood everywhere, scare some people, have people remember what I’m made of. Remember my laughing face, going out in inferno rage of delight. Not weak. Never weakness. Never dying in a bed. Not for me.

Re: Got that 'end of the world' feeling?5 Years AgoThe best way to find out about what happens when the world ends is to read the Book of Revelations. It is, at times, hard to read but it is quite informative and helpful. To keep anxiety and fear down, trust in God. He will comfort and show you the way.

Re: Got that 'end of the world' feeling?5 Years AgoHello, everyone. Newbie from the United States on this end. I have been waylaid for awhile and not been producing enough writing. It has been something I have gotten much more back into with my screenplay though since having more time at home with everything going on. It makes me feel a little less alone at least and hopeful that some good will come from all this bad. This has proven to be rather therapeutic at least even with the hard moments that still come. So much can be taken away from us. Not the words we put on a page.

Re: Got that 'end of the world' feeling?5 Years AgoYes, this whole deal with the virus has been something else. Like you, I hope something good comes from it. But as you mentioned, what can't be taken away from us is our writing and maybe our writing will improve because of what this virus has done. At least, I hope so.
