A Poem by Sunflower

i painted the walls of my room a pale
yellow
hoping it would finally make me
happy

but this is the room i learned to
hate
myself in
the room where most of my
tears have fallen

i guess even walls
the color of
butter
can't save me from
myself

One of my teachers growing up had a classroom that was covered in smiley faces and yet she was not really happy either. It’s always an interesting dynamic to experience when someone is trying to surround themselves with good things and it just isn’t quite working.
Heck, paint the walls black and admit that fits better for where you are right now. The colors will always wait for you.
