the night falls on the blossomed sunflower

the cold of darkness envelops her

still beaten down

she waits for the coming of the sun

let mother earth take her back

absorb her back into your roots

oh dawn, return for this sunflower

give her the peace she deserves

free her soul from the prison of the dark

her escape is nigh

the key in her shaky palm

oh Lord, free her from this cage

let her turn that key

let her stumble back into the light

armed with her truth

holding the key

but the lock gets further away

will this sunflower ever

be free of the shackles

of the darkness

will the sun rise for her

and will she ever return

to the happiness of the light

Our main job should be to make sure our end provides a prosperous beginning for the next. Sometimes the civilization gets out of whack and starts siphoning from the next beginning to prolong an inevitable end. Do you live in America? We are doing it right now. It's not a new thing though... the Egyptians did it with those lovely pyramids and I'm sure it started long before that and that it will end long after we are both dead.

There is a balance to that... we cannot be auto nice all the time and expect it to work out on average. The world does not work like that in reality. What we hope for must not get confused with what actually is in real life... that's how 20 something year old missionaries get whacked trying to bring water to the sahel.

I agree. The problem in america right now is that people consider everything a zero sum game. That is why we find ourselves in a grievance based society. Being kind is now "woke" and for "poor people".
