Shatter Me

 

Anything this hardened should shatter

with any contact force thrown in its direction

but I can't committ to the seduction

can't scribble my signature and throw myself into the fire

no matter how strong my passion is

to burn.

 

So lift me with each note you speak

and inflate me with each breath I inhale from your sweet lips

until we float in tandum at a height

unattainable by envious angels.

 

Then drop me.

 

Send me crashing in a fit of fright

only to be ceased with a scream-silencing splat

that will finally break me.
