I Saw Someone Today

I saw someone today.
They made me think of you.
My heart reached out
And returned feeling blue.

This little kitten; scraggly.
Hanging on a thread.
I tucked him up to me
He bumped me with his head.

I cared and worried
Over little phantom you,
Just as I did
When your month was only two.

My heart is torn to shreds,
Slowly threaded back together.
With the warmth and comfort
Of love in greatest measure.

I saw someone today.
They made me think of you.
This little kitten, grey,
Reminding me
you’re never far away.
