Escape

Escape

A Poem by V.J.C.

Escape

Rain poured down

Without mercy

Who dared go outside?

Foolish girl trying

To brave nature's wraith

She shivered

Her petite frame

On the verge of womanhood

Misery etched on her face

She braved the weather

No one else seemed to dare

Piercing pain made itself known

She was not yet numb

Too much pain in her life

She continued her sluggish pace forward

She knew not where she was going

Rubbing her mind raw

Bringing pain to the forefront

Emotions had not time to divulge

Cruel love remained behind closed doors

What she had seen still shook her

Walking nowhere

And every where

To try

To escape

Sometimes we must march through the storm and torment to reach the waiting rainbow. Even if the path is hidden, eventually we all find our way. Wonderfully vivid poem.

Intense inner conflict that the character seems to be trying to wash out with the rain. The poem is vividly written and pain eloquently conveyed.
