The silence diseaseA Poem by LH WeissOne of those first-letter-of-every-line poemsLet me be clear, for i don’t want you worrying about me or my family. Everyone is happy in this home. everything is well. Unless you count her illness. the one nobody knows how to talk about. Knitting a conversation while avoiding the elephant in the room is what i’m good at. Every word ducks around the one i want to say the most. My sister is stuck in her bed. she cannot walk or see. I cry for her lost opportunities. she should be in college right now. Any day, i’ll wake up and she will have been well this whole time. © 2025 LH WeissAuthor's Note
