Ivory EyesA Poem by Adam LainThose Ivory eyes just compel me, I wont look but what a stare; not so much deep, yet weighted, a void I avoid to bear; not that you didnt see me through, the corner of your vision; I will not allow you to take me in, peripheral inquisition. Many men have fallen prey, this iris like a virus. Was it their minds, weak wills or filled with impulse; ivory pious?
I wont take my chances, ivory, the venus de milo you are; dont talk! dont look! just listen! my conscious screamed so hard. But I want to see that beauty, a struggle deep beneath thee; I fight with curiousty, my unconscious always defeats me.
Should I do it? have a glance? purely I wont break, Ive been through this time and time, my freedom is at stake. I can hear her comming near, the click clock of her step, my vision begins to draw an image, unconcealing silhouette.
You see, we never get this close, always several paces afar; but now that shes drawing near, a chill suddenly wraps my heart. I wonder what this feeling is, now an unfamiliar sound I hear? a hiss, a flick, a slilther...pause, she whispers in my ear...
I notice you never look at me, not onced you asked my name; but I noticed you awhile ago, the days, the weeks they wane.
I whisper back, I know of you, the men, you break their wills; so beyond desire to view your gaze, my mind holds vision still...I grin; Medusa
