The Otherkind

NOTE: This poem has nothing to do with my book, also entitled The Otherkind.

The lost and lonely queen
Wanders the forest of sweet dreaming
Behind her veil of calm benignity
She wears a dark smile

No one knows that she knows
She hears everything
And no one will ever know
Her grand and master plan unfolding

CHORUS.

Her realm is one of the unknown
Her dominion is an alternate reality
Her reign is over another side of this silly world
She is queen of the Otherkind

Secrets are unraveling
Along the strange path she's following
It's hard to tell what's true and false
Underneath it all

And she can't see
Even the wisest don't know everything
Who she is meant to be
Is hidden within the black and white

Why is this happening to me?

I just wanted to be one of normalcy

Do I belong with you?
Or do you belong with me?

My realm is one of the unknown

Just like in a yin-yang, all things have an opposite element. I felt that this piece was counterpoint to the others thus far in the series. As if for all the beauty, softness and compassion that resides within a person, there is also the dark side. A place where our own fantasies, warped delusions and twisted dreams play out in a room removed, so that the positive side can continue to function.

An amazing work of thought that takes us to the other realm of our minds.
