In the finest of
your hour On the pinnacles of bliss In your moments of sheer joy In triumphs and in victory Do not forget the 13th fairy She lurks outside your door Green in her cloak of envy Looking to change your destiny So just leave your door ajar Let her step in and with her curses, re-engineer your tale from a blurb on an unrecalled page into a glorious epic in history
Now it all makes sense! That 13th Fairy and her wicked curse on the unfortunate child in the fairytale story. Perhaps its a metaphor for another fairytale in reality, except perhaps the child this time is the real embodiment of wickedness. I knew of "Sleeping Beauty" but wasn't intimately knowledgeable of all areas of the tale. Your poem carries a rather menacing moral for any that carry a wicked heart. Be always on your guard. Step out of line and your destiny will be altered and not for the better. It's quite an effective and strongly messaged poem when you peel away the layers. The sad reality however is that should the curse hold, there will be no prince game enough to wake this one from her slumber! A 5 % chance max! A clever write, dear P! A fine reimagining on the classic tale written with the appropriate menace that would do Maleficent herself proud! Much enjoyed! :))

The Sleeping Beauty is a lovely tale which can be viewed from more perspectives than just one.
No doubt the 13th fairy was wicked but without her the tale would be no tale. Rascals and evildoers are perhaps needed to push you to your heights of greatness. That’s my main thought while writing this poem.
As for the real character that may inspired me...it’s something so hilarious, you wouldn’t believe me if I told you. Lol. I’ll pm you anyway. Yeah there’s 5% chance they’ll be kissed & 95% chance they’ll be given the miss! Not sexy enough 🤓 heheheh.
Thanks a bunch of the loveliest roses in all your favourite colours. I’m mailing them right away!
The 13th fairy! Quite an interesting one this is. It's better to let her in and be able to overpower the feelings she brings with her. Wonderful use of words.
That fairy has much to answer for, a bewilderment with wings. She'll do the worst to the best, and do the best to the worst.. converting fate, chance, whatever - depending on how she's met, fought, converted.. and how she can be shown that one is better than thought - if logic allows. Folklore has many sides to its character, sometimes due to over-emphasis or- alternatively, over-simplicity. Guess, put simply@ there's always someone or something to tug you down into their own mess or perverse marvel!

WoW. To inspire a poet is the ultimate thing for me...Thank you!
What a great title.
The thirteenth fairy must be the main protagonist in every fairytale. To Brutus or the horrible asp, or the more dangerous of them all, the Ex. You really don't want any of them behind you, or even in front of you, though they probably come through in dreams just to really scare the crap out of you.

Love this! Quite foreboding but still leaves you feeling enchanted.
I can see the fairy now, and I have no desire to let her in.
Beware, the fae, for their tricks have been the downfall of many.

She’s everywhere nowadays! I struggle to keep her out...
Thank you very much K. Glidden!
Envy is so destructive....why allow her in? Lock that door and tell her to go to another place where she might be welcomed. She can change your destiny....and not in a good way. I doubt she would turn anyone's life into a "glorious epic". Instead, she would wreak havoc. Your poetry always has a message, Peston. I enjoy it. Lydi**

Quite a nasty 13th Fairy, this one. Waiting outside your door, green with envy, cursing and fabricating to her hearts content....no wonder she wasn't invited to the party! I like the references to Sleeping Beauty here, Pestonjee. You have taken a fairytale and turned it into a warning message for all to heed. Perhaps it is best to actually forget this fairy for she is not worthy of much attention, just as in the tale. It's an intriguing write, this one. I'll be sure to keep my door ajar.

Those who look to pull you down, push you up instead and those who look to destroy you, create a new you. They’ll never be invited to the party for they’re too ugly to behold. Let them do their dirty job and push them into dark anonymity. I love your visits and thanks tons for your kind reviews. 🍻
Always someone who wants to knock you off that pedestal. Green the colour of envy and thirteen unlucky for some. I think I am showing my superstitious side this morning Pestonjee. We have all been warned about the thirteenth fairy. What a wicked little thing she is :)) Always better to have your enemy close at hand, yes keep that door open. You can see what they are up to.

This poem is my way of saying how important our detractors are in teaching us things about ourselves. How vital evildoers are in creating heroes. Those who try to push you down actually push you up to greater heights within yourself. The 13th fairy is vital. Without her there would be no legend at all. This character is ubiquitous and in some or the other is present in every tale.
Thank you very much for your encouraging words today. Another very appreciated review from you! 🌹
this is why Gandalf had to make sure Bilbo came on the journey, made fourteen with the dwarfs and kept that number from being unlucky thirteen...
those damn fairies stepping on the welcome mat...and turning the porch dark.
