AS THE FIRE STARTS TO DANCEA Poem by DONALD EISSLERA Mini Kleenex moment from the hand of THE TARNISHED KNIGHT Hope you all enjoy
AS THE FIRE STARTS TO DANCE Sitting looking out my window As the rain comes pouring down. Lighting flashes in the sky. There's thunder all around. My dog lays along side of me. By the fireplace she rests. Always been my best friend. For that I have been blessed. Never ask to much of me, Just a pat upon her head. Always there to comfort me, Even when my heart has bled. My eyes gaze upon the mantle As the fire dances in the night. Two pictures in wooden frames How they cast an errie sight. One of a blue eyed boy With a cleft between his chin. Almost seems to come life. But does not, to my chagrin. The other of red haired beauty, In a wedding gown of white. My heart still beats with passion When I think about that night. The pictures seem so real. Their voice's I seem to hear. But it's just the crackling of the fire That is whispering in my ear. They are no longer with me now Except in the visions of my mind. The laugh of that blue eyed boy Shall never be left behind. That red haired beauty, With eyes of emerald green. Shall always be in my heart. Nothing shall ever come between. The fire is slowing dying now, No shadow dancing on the walls. The pictures in the picture frames Now, seem not so real at all. My dog she looks up at me. Then gets up rather slow. Puts her head on my knee. I believe it's time to go. Tomorrow night I shall return For I will have another chance To see those photos come alive As the fire starts to dance.
