A BABY ONCE WAS BORN ( my life story in prose)

A BABY ONCE WAS BORN ( my life story in prose)

A Poem by DONALD EISSLER
"

This was harder then I thought. Pic is me without my beard and my mother a yr before she passed. Hope you enjoy "A BABY ONCE WAS BORN"

"

A baby once was born

On a cold December day.

Father took one look,

Then he ran away.

Mother was not happy

So she took her life.

You should not have a baby

And not be someone’s wife.

Just when baby thought

He was all alone,

Someone took a look at him

Said "let’s take baby home"

He was very happy

For this part of his life.

Had not many worries

To cause him any strife.

Then Vietnam called,

Baby he be no more.

Can't stay an infant

Seeing the horrors of a war.

Now a man at age of 22

He took himself a wife.

They had a son together

Thought they had a perfect life.

Again he acted like a baby

Was selfish from the start.

Trying to prove his prowess

Finally drove them both apart.

When he finally saw the light

He was without a wife.

Lost almost everything,

It almost took his life.

Now baby he turned 30

The world was in his hand.

Thought he was so damn pretty,

Proved by one night stands.

Then at the age 33

Thought he had met the one.

He was so very happy

His single life was done.

She was very pretty,

Oh! what a site to see.

All the men were envious

But she belonged to he.

Now at the age of 35

The eyes again begins to roam.

It was very different then,

For those eye's were not his own.

How his heart was broken,

Tears flowing from his eyes.

Is this what it feels to others

Who I’ve told so many lies?

It took 10 years for baby

To fall in love again.

Two bands of love to prove

Their new life would now begin.

Took 8 years more for baby

To see there was a curse.

His son was coming to see him,

Only he was in a hearse.

Again the tears would flow,

Like rapids in a stream.

This cannot be real he thought.

It is really just a dream?

When he saw the coffin,

Much to his demise.

Reality now struck him.

That this was not a lie.

Devil paid another visit

About the year of 2001.

Gave his wife a bottle,

Hence her life was done.

Her cries for help were silent.

As her soul inside was dying.

Baby could not understand

Just why that she was crying.

It took about ten years

Till the tempter got his way.

Seems that happens often

When your faith does go astray.

Now babys so much older,

His hair is mostly gray.

No longer has his prowess,

For that too has gone away.

But he's found a special love

Who sees his heart within.

He gives him peace and compassion

A place he has never been.

He knows what he's been through

Helps him put the past to rest

He gives his love unconditionally

Their love is truly blessed.

Though he often thinks of "baby"

And the pain that he went through.

But it only made him stronger

Now his life been made anew.

Ghosts from the past are fading

As he presses on each day.

Learned to love with all his heart

With compassion most would say.

Now there's no more baby

Time has shown it's face.

Now in his final season

The Lord he does embrace.
