EmbarrassedA Story by Abdullah Pullin“I entered the room and I was greeted by several stares of disgust and horror and smirks and giggles while inspecting my body. I hadn’t realized that my apparel was inappropriate, flaunting around the neighborhood on my way to the party in a plaid red dress shirt under a sweater vest and even worse jeans and shoes rich in diverse colors. All clothes and a hairstyle that hung under my neck and failed to relate to the rest of my outfit. I went to hang my coat at the end of the room and as I walked by the stares of horror, disgust, and humor had brought their mouths to whoever they were by while they still kept their eyes on my bod. Unaware of what the ogle’s actually meant, I just smiled and waved at everyone as a passed the human hallway. I hung my coat and when I turned around, everyone in the room was staring at me with jest. “Hello?” I said questioning the experience I had been a victim of since I entered the room. The response was loud and a little hurtful to my freedom of expression. Yelling sounds coming out of smiling faces, some with their eyes closed and leaning or holding on to the person they whispered the, most likely foul message to. Hurt by the feedback, I walked through the hall once more and sat on the couch next to the door so I wouldn’t have to go through the nasty hollers or looks when I left.” © 2015 Abdullah PullinAuthor's Note
