Robotech: The Alliance of Dreams

Robotech: The Alliance of Dreams

A Story by Abishai100
"

As the two mighty galactic armies of the Robotech universe clash, the Centauris and the Delphis, the prince and princess of the two sides fall in love, creating a strange love potential for peace.

"
Prince Max had become the figurehead and supreme space-pilot of the Centauri army during the great Robotech Wars. Max was the son of King Ufi, and he'd been entrusted with commanding the Centauri Space Fleet in any maneuver against the kingdom's main rival and adversary, the more calculating Delphi army. The Delphis were led by the shrewd King Mars, whose lovely daughter Jane was considering marriage to someone who'd want to take her away from all the madness of the Robotech Wars. Meanwhile, Max was coordinating a special fleet maneuver to invade the Delphi system on Valentine's Day. However, when the invasion began, Max's craft crashed into the space-vessel carrying King Mars and his daughter Princess Jane. Max was carried into the holding-cell and kept as a pseudo-prisoner while King Mars negotiated with Centauri's King Ufi (Max's father!). While in holding, Princess Jane snuck into Max's cell and began conversing with him in secret.

MAX: It's dangerous for you to meet with me in private, Princess!
JANE: I understand, Prince Max; but I'm intrigued by the prospect of peace.
MAX: Peace?
JANE: The Centauris and the Delphis have fought each other for too long, Max!
MAX: I understand, Princess Jane; but war is the nature of our engagement now.
JANE: Don't you crave peace for your kingdom...and ours?
MAX: Why don't you voice these sentiments to King Mars and encourage negotiations?
JANE: Do you think King Ufi of the Centauris would listen?
MAX: The only thing diplomatically possible would be a conceived love-marriage.
JANE: Love-marriage, eh?
MAX: Yes, like, perhaps, for example, if you and I married and wed our two kingdoms!
JANE: Is that something that would stir your interest, Prince Max?
MAX: Why do you ask?
JANE: Well, you're handsome, and I'm attractive...we'd convince our kingly fathers, no?
MAX: Our fathers would see through any veil of pseudo-political machination, princess.
JANE: Why, don't you think you could even imagine you and I would be a decent match, Max?
MAX: I suppose I'd admit I'm attracted to you, Jane; but I don't know anything about the Delphis.
JANE: I can show you...
MAX: So the prospect of peace has you scurrying into my cell to teach me about customs, eh?
JANE: Is that so strange, given that you and I are young, royal, and attractive?
MAX: Your pseudo-proposal is at once immediate and stirring.
JANE: Why, are you falling for my sense of courage, Prince Max?
MAX: We'll see, Jane, if your brand of stark honesty starts moving my feelings.
JANE: That's all I ask, Max.
MAX: Right; at least we'll start daydreaming about a more hygienic future.
JANE: I'm somewhat charmed by your objectivity, Max.
MAX: An ambitious space-pilot could easily be seduced by you, Jane.
JANE: Interesting words, Max; I'll keep your cautiousness in mind!

As Max and Jane continued to chat while Max was held in the fortress of the Delphis by Jane's father King Mars, Max and Jane ironically started falling in love! Why not? After all, the Centauris and Delphis had indeed been fighting each other for a very very long time, and the galaxy craved a more stable sense of existence. Life needed to be more complete, and an ongoing conflict between the Centauris and the Delphis was an obstacle to be sure. The Centauris and the Delphis had both developed incredible space-vehicle and weapons and robotics technologies for fighting and science, including laser-jets, sonic wave rippers, telepathy-enabling communications devices, and large space-vessels that mechanically transformed into hammer-wielding piloted giant robots. This was the essence of the drama of the great Robotech Wars --- ingenuity combined with unending metaphysical focus on destructive maneuvers. Prince Max of the Centauris and Princess Jane of the Delphis now began both daydreaming about a potential love-marriage that would bring this highly ambitious war to a shockingly beautiful end. Was this possible?

Max confronted his father, King Ufi, in his castle chamber in the Centauri system after King Mars agreed to release Max upon the earnest and ceaseless requests of his enchanted daughter Princess Jane. Apparently, Jane told Mars that she'd truly fallen in love with Max and desperately wanted to see if Max would return to the Centauri system to propose a sincere proposal of love-marriage based peace between the Centauris and the Delphis. Mars consented to honor this seemingly sincere wish of Princess Jane but remained wary of King Ufi's reaction to whatever Max relayed to him about his beloved daughter Princess Jane. However, Prince Max did indeed go to his father King Ufi and honestly told him he'd actually begun falling in love with King Mars' Centauri daughter Princess Jane and now sought a harmonious Christianity-evocative love-marriage with her that would gloriously bring the enflamed Robotech Wars to an arguably much needed sensitive end. King Ufi of the Centauris agreed that if Prince Max was somehow able to persuade both Princess Jane and King Mars of the Delphis that love could heal the galactic scars of rivalry, then perhaps the two kingdoms could miraculously arrive at some illumination. Righteousness was in the air!
