The Bodyguards

Linda O'Hara travels from the UK to the USA and is assigned the Green Team of bodyguards who do everything to ensure her safe diplomatic mission can continue in the modern world.

This last piece is a cinema-adaptation of a quaint story of sentimental protection for a key society figure, inspired by the entertaining modern film The Bodyguard starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston! Thanks for reading,

Linda O'Hara sneaked out of Belfast (Northern Ireland) where she was working for the CIA as a covert consultant for new initiatives (some military, some diplomatic) to bridge the IRA (Irish Republican Army) with Sinn Fein and Parliament. She traveled to America and hid as a witness waiting for her trial and investigation about black market munitions operations to fund strikes on British military and police barracks in Belfast that were being corrupted by new age terrorist and narcotics groups seeking to exploit the delicate Protestant-Catholic divisions in Northern Ireland. Linda (code-name: Siren) was given a special team of protecting bodygards in the USA known as the Green Team (GT). She waited patiently in her DC rented apartment, secured by the CIA.

In Belfast, Siren was considered an ace resource for IRA and P-IRA operations making bridges with Sinn Fein to obtain more socioeconomic benefits for the struggling Irish Catholic minority in Northern Irelant living alongside generations of British Protestant majority settlers descended from English colonialists. Siren was a key member in new age political dealings between the IRA and British Parliament and now needed extra protection while hiding in the USA. That's why the Green Team (GT) was assigned to protect his valuable sentinel for the CIA.

Linda/Siren took an Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to JFK and then a bus to NYC where she was greeted by the CIA who set her up in her hidden secured apartment and then sent the Green Team (GT) to watch over her night and day. Linda/Siren wondered just how secure her Aer Lingus flight from Ireland to America was, but she was relieved about the protection afforded by the CIA --- the Green Team (GT).

GT Arrow: This member was a masked super-archer who could strike down any burglar or break-in artist or pedestrian thug seeking to assassinate Linda/Siren. Arrow wielded a bow-and-arrow, quite modern, and walked around pretending to be a Halloween costumed Irish folk-hero archer. No one would suspect he was a member of the Green Team!

GT Canary: While Arrow made patrols on one side of the streets, Canary, a white-haired ninja-like bodyguard, secured the other side of the street. She wore a mask and costume too but pretended she was a member of the Mummers doing regular urban street walks. She wielded weapons and kept a watch for any suspicious individuals who'd try to kill Linda/Siren!

GT Feather: This Native-American bodyguard was a sharp-shooter and skilled at hand-to-hand combat with a knife and could therefore deal with any strange terrorist trying to kill Linda/Siren from close range!

The Green Team (GT) made sure Linda/Siren was comfortable and entertained with her Irish drinks at her DC apartment while she awaited her important diplomacy-work with the CIA in America. Everything seemed quite cool.

Linda/Siren received a strange mail package which contained a model-toy Aer Lingus airplane. She wondered if it was sent by a friend from Northern Ireland or an adversary. She showed the package to the CIA and to the Green Team (GT), and this prompted them to be on extra alert.

Linda/Siren was escorted by the Green Team (GT) to the St. Patrick's Day parade in DC and she enjoyed taking photos of the extraordinary Irish cultural event with her handy-dandy green Apple iPhone. The GT made sure there were no strange looking characters around to threaten her while she was enjoying the Irish-American festivities that day.

Linda/Siren requested she be allowed to go camping in a forest outside DC for recreation. The GT agreed to escort her there. While there, however, she was approached along with the GT by a strange psycho in a hockey-mask wielding a buzzing chainsaw. The GT had to fire arrows and tranquilizer-shots at this masked maniac until he fled the scene. They reported the incident immediately to the CIA and to the press!

The CIA then got a letter from the masked maniac indicating the terrorist in America would kill Linda/Siren and then destroy the GT bodyguards in the name of 'old guard' UK manners! This psycho was obviously some kind of rogue British police or official who defected from the current diplomatic activities being carried out in Northern Ireland. The CIA informed the GT to make sure no signs of brutes or fighting were now going to rise spontaneously in crowds near where Linda/Siren traveled in the USA.

Linda/Siren was escorted safely thankfully back to Belfast and the GT were given special commendations for ensuring her necessary protection. She continued to work with the US consulate in Belfast and the IRA and Sinn Fein for new Parliament procedures and socioeconomic policy reform deadlines and guidelines. She told the Irish Gazette, "My trip to America was very fine, and I return as a missionary in Northern Ireland with an outfitted confidence that Protestant-Catholic troubles and divisions certainly have a lending hand now in the modern world, giving me the special courage to continue to work as the Siren!"

PSYCHO: I won't stop stalking Siren. She's my number one target. If she returns to America for any reason, I'll kill her and the Green Team assigned to be her minion bodyguards. I won't tolerate this kind of effeminate sentimental democratic nonsense on a land for nativist politics connected to the United Kingdom and to Europe in general! This is my mission. I will not be deterred by any brand of new age doughnuts or rhetoric.
