Batman: Year Two

Amlan ('Batman') continues his vigilantism-mission as new developments challenge his vision of sanity, but he has a friend now in Robin/Nightwing.

A sequel of sorts to my Batman: Year One story on WritersCafe, once again closely inspired by stories/media from the iconic vigilantism-themed Batman (DC Comics) franchise. Enjoy!

Europe was the place where Amlan ('Batman') had begun his crime-fighting crusade against super-criminals as a masked night-vigilante who'd become known in the underground as the proverbial dark knight of the city. However, many developments occurred in Europe since the inception of Batman's mission. Scarecrow and Hatter were incarcerated in Arkham Asylum. Europe felt safe momentarily, until a new menace would surface, requiring more monitors for Batman in Euro-cities like Amsterdam.

BATMAN: I've been busy making/collecting artworks of humanity in great social activities of peace and sanity.

Amlan ('Batman') was now a wealthy socialite-businessman and head of Wayne Industries which stretched from Europe to North America and was overseeing various commercial highways such as clean-coal tech-developments which countered dark trends in blood-diamond terrorism financing.

INTERPOL: Blood-diamond corruption continues to be a menace to diamond exchanges and threatens mineral/gem mining.

There was a new druglord in Europe/Amsterdam named Black Mask who brought in shipments of narcotics from all over the world and made Europe his terrorism-financing base. Batman had meanwhile recruited a valiant young masked vigilante named Ajay ('Robin/Nightwing') who became a masked night-vigilante with his own unorthodox/covert methods of crime-interception and narcotics-movement monitoring, sometimes working without Batman's assistance in the spotting of Black Mask's evil trucks in Europe.

However, in this second 'phase' of Batman's crime-fighting vigilante mission, his past ally Catwoman had now gone rogue and had begun practicing more deadly/dangerous methods and tactics designed to somewhat eerily resemble the forms of terrorism utilized by the super-criminals she'd been stalking including Black Mask. Catwoman was therefore no longer a reliable friend of Batman, and Europe was suddenly confounded by this layered look of varied vigilantism, and the media didn't know how to categorize or characterize this super-female vigilante working with the dark side of war.

ROBIN/NIGHTWING: I shall be a great boon to the mission of Batman, even when I work alone or in the cover of night!

Another super-criminal who'd risen to prominence now was the chemically-enhanced Bane, a monster of a pseudo-man who used steroids to make himself more menacing and frightening. He was only matched by Batman despite the nifty tactics and support Robin/Nightwing provided in spotting Bane's next dark move.

Batman meanwhile still employed his old more conservative masked thievery and baron blood-diamond heist and street-prowling in costume/mask tactics. He was now somewhat famous, the media considered him a 'friendly' ninja of unpredictable valor and creative thinking!

BLACK MASK: I shall find and catch this 'Batman' and convert him into a minion for our evil schemes in Europe today.

Wayne Industries was busy filming a media program highlighting the amenities and sponsorship which made Amsterdam Hotel such a boon for modern European civics and sanity, and Batman provide the night-time security, so the institution was not harassed by the likes of Black Mask or Bane.

BATMAN: What we need Robin is a method for gun-control and drugs-movement monitoring streamlined and documented.

CATWOMAN: That 'dark knight' soared through the night-sky on his hang-glider, neglecting my vision en-route to celebrity!

What would this 'new' Europe/Amsterdam hold for this second 'phase' of Batman's crime-fighting mission? Would he ever reconcile with the darker Catwoman? Would Batman/Robin provide the right antidote to this developed form of European hellfire created by the likes of these new hellraisers (i.e., Black Mask, Bane)? Would the media/TV play a vital role in the dissemination of democratic voices regarding the cessation of utter disasters?
