Rockefeller Ice: The Ghostly-Dream

A Story by Abishai100
"

A narrative diorama about a metaphysical anti-dream surrounding Rockefeller-Christmastime ice-skating...and ghostly drawings.

A special modernized adaptation 'patriotism' nod to Tales from the Darkside, as we approach the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Enjoy (and thanks so much for reading!),

The modern world was filled with comic book images of terrorism-engagement and valiant/patriotic anti-terrorism crusaders known as GI Joes.

At Rockefeller Center ice-rink in Christmastime, people were reporting sightings of strange 'ghost-soldiers' (men and women!) appearing to be skating by them as shadowy-silhouettes, whispering strange modern civilization messages like, "Beware the tides of American pride."

My name's Amlan Satan (code-name: Storm-Shadow), and I'm covering this story about a strange folk-tale involving Rockefeller Christmas ice-skating and 'ghost-soldier' sightings with special American-pride omens which have turned me into a sort of civilization folk-tale nerd!

Now, sightings of ghosts/specters mixed with wartime or soldiery imagination are not uncommon and have been cited throughout the history of great wars including World War I, during which there were eerie reports of fighting uniformed soldiers reporting to see 'ghost-angels' warning them about overly-indulgent gunfire.

Sure, I thought, this made sense. After all, this is the age of computer-cyber wizardry and digital-microchip laser-like communications yielding retrograding bomb-like viruses, turning everyday people/capitalists into witnesses or 'soldiers' of globalized commerce/communication and therefore creating more consumer appeal for iconic violence-themed toys like modern machine-guns!

During World War I, I learned there was the story of the Angel of Mons who reported being seen/sighted by fighting soldiers on the battlefield, and such a symbolic folk-story I think reveals our inherent fascination with illuminating the undercurrents of human vanity in times of great socialized deformity (e.g., World Wars).

After all, this is a time when we're all a bit edgy about post-9/11 consciousness regarding capitalism securities, and maybe these ghost-soldier 'sightings' in Rockefeller Christmastime ice-rink by New Yorker skaters reflects a burgeoned paranoia about civilization development oriented war-mysticism!

Needless to say, New York has always had a special 'need' for mysticism and spirituality, given its historical tendency to cater to a mob-violence psychology reflective of a war-like American psychic fascination, which is why we see stories of dark urban crime-gangs forcing us to troll around for more mystical fantasies!

These fantasies surfaced therefore among New York ice-skaters, which is what I've been reporting on; I used to be a blood-diamond terrorism-financing intelligence-infiltration analyst with Interpol-relations, but this strange modern ice-ghost folk-tale emerged in today's New York has caught my curiosity about the lingering 'presence' of omen-themed world demons.

One witness claimed she was passed by on the Rocky-Christmas ice-rink by what seemed to be the ghost of a handsome dashing 1920s tuxedo-wearing ghost-man who whispered to her, "I survived the great World War."

Another witness, a man, claimed he was passed by a the specter-ghost of a war-time soldier's wife from Italy who whispered into his ear, "I miss true love."

Now, I know from my own personal research that the idea of spotting ghosts or mystical 'beings' in environments of great human activity like war-ships is not unlike thinking about the 'presence' of immortal fears in times of great calamity.

Why then do we market mysticism or even Occultism themed games/toys to kids these days (e.g., during Christmastime) such as Ouija casual board-games if we neglect the idea that modern New Yorkers simply feel 'bereft' of a certain spiritual modernism-claustrophobic optimism towards immortal sanity?

So there I was continuing to do my research into the daylight and post-sunset hours of Rocky-Christmas ice-skating memoirs, taken from New York witnesses who claimed to be passed by during skating by these 'ghostly messengers' and thought to myself, "Did 9/11 shatter our sense of commonplace sanity?"

Another witness in the Rocky-Christmas 'ice-skating show' I'm reporting on here claimed she's passed by on the rink by what is most certainly a ghost-soldier of a Vietnam War veteran killed during battle who whispered into her ear, "Don't underestimate American pride regarding unholy depression."

Another male witness claimed he's passed by on the ice-rink at Rocky by an irresistibly attractive young woman in black silk clothing who claimed to him that she'd murder him in his bedroom unless he found true love during Christmastime.

I decided for this dioramic report that the key to unraveling this mystery and mysticism behind Christmastime ghostly omens and sightings may lie in the basic courage or optimism towards the simple analysis of what comprises the 'dark side' of human civilization culture.

I decided to walk into a Manhattan piano-store and started playing a Beethoven song on a Kawai grand and thought to myself, "I won't become a ghost-soldier with a message for Rocky-Christmas ice-skaters."

I purchased an awesome black-and-white 'ninja' Christmas sweater at Nordstrom's in NYC and considered it a 'mystic keepsake' for this bizarre folk-tale about under-evaluated deep American fears.

CRITIC: Maybe what New York needs is a diagonal slant in the road about the 'shape' of mental neglect!

I'll keep looking for these ice-skating reports of 'ghost-soldier' sightings all over great New York, but I wonder if we'll ever get over the haunting trauma of 9/11.

CRITIC: I bought a set of ice-skating figurines for Christmas in New York; just to remind myself of basic dreams.

If I ever convert this diorama/report into a full-blown mysticism novel, I might remember this entire ghost-memoir as some kind of reflection of the utter human need for basic metaphysical...ditches.
