Chicago Fairies: Decameron

Chicago Fairies: Decameron

A Story by Abishai100
"

A vignette about acquiring/creating magic in Chicago, for the simple-sake of American dimension.

An elegiac American love-letter to our culture's sense of 'inventive' distancing.

The Windy City of Chicago (USA) is a place of great traffic/culture, intrigue, and also depression/crime. What the American city needs is a host of magical creatures called winged 'fairies' or humanoids who dwell in the forests (not cities!) and exist as magical messengers of a special brand of optimism. That's what Chicago needs today.

That's what Chicago is about to get. In fact, a host of magical winged fairies have been dwelling in the forests right outside Chicago (the Windy City) for ages, and how they're deciding to 'invade' the city as transformed/disguised humanoids (men and women!) to offer the troubled city a dash of magical holiday-season fantasy (and daydreams).

One of the fairies is a male-captain fairy named Green who tansforms into an Algerian-American Chicago (USA) resident named Amlan and becomes a masked/costumed blood-diamond thief robbing bank safe-boxes owned by ruthless capitalism-barons living in the Windy City.

Another fairy is Yellow who decides she'll host a team of female fairies in wearing only raincoats and invading the city of Chicago and presenting a musical face of pedestrian activity, creating special traffic activities/behaviors designed to make the fairies-turned-humans appear to be smiling/cheerful American dancers. It's what Chicago needs!

Another fairy if Black who decides he's going to take city-dwellers on special forest day-trips (in raincoats!) and have them take iPhone photos of the Earth and remember what it's like to just forget about the realism behind urban crime and claustrophobia and Coronavirus mismangement. Black thinks he's going to re-present himself as Paul Bunyan or something!

Another fairy, friend of Yellow, is Red who's also wearing raincoats and wandering around Chicago (the US Windy City!) and approaching young working professionals to ask them if they think they're infected with STDs and if not if they're willing to engage in some safe weekend intimacy in her rented motel-room while watching National Geographic video-tapes borrowed from the Chicago Public Library.

Another fairy is the male Blue, who's wearing very stylish modern urban fashions like London-Fog trench-coats and carrying a very pro-camera (Nikon) and telling people he passes on the street, "You're beautiful and should be part of my wondrous cyber-art mosaic called Dartmouth!" Blue believes this sort of conversational 'evangelical' greeting is what Chicago needs to remember the days when life in the US city was more about style and fun and less about dollars and darkness.

CHICAGO NEWSPAPER: A mass-murder in a Chicago subway-station has citizens wondering, "Do we need miracles/fairies?"

The group of inquistive/daring fairies invading Chicago, the Windy City, have made some real pseudo-invisible 'splash' onto a civilization-society 'infected' with forms of malaise, troubles, and crimes. They've become special invisigle messengers of a modern era beset by the troubles of imagined dragons and the sort of foggy evil they create amidst mental visions of immaculate...design.

YELLOW FAIRY: May one of us be buried in some Chicago cemetery, perhaps as a 'message' that America is drunk.

That's the story. It's a Chicago folk-tale. It's about the transcendence of tribulation...and the acquisition of real magic. It's about fairies, invading fairies! It's what Chicago needs this holiday season and in this 20th-anniversary year of 9/11. It's what will remind all us Americans today that the modern city has simply become a chance to celebrate...diaries!
