Dartmouth-Penn: Deformer-SoccerA Story by Abishai100A storied Ivy-game of collegiate-soccer is recounted as iconic and reflective of the sheer 'diagrams' of soccer-derivation(s).
A college-soccer 'opera' inspired by my love of the game and participation in youth-leagues and college in the USA. Hope you like it (and thanks so much for reading!),

==== Amlan and Marcus are now officers/professors/coaches, but once-upon-a-time, they engaged in a symbolic strategy-soccer game as co-midfielders of the Dartmouth Big Green college-soccer team which was to challenge UPenn's Quakers team in the NCAA championship game, which was later/eventually named/nicknamed 'Deformer-Soccer' by sports-writers. This is their story! ![]() The field is home-advantage for Dartmouth's Big Green, but the fans in the stadium are equally-divided between Dartmouth/UPenn students and faculty and alumni for this important and symbolic Ivy League matchup in the NCAA championship tourney. ![]() AMLAN: Dartmouth soccer has always represented a form of special socialized teamwork fitness. MARCUS: We anticipate Penn's Quakers will show up with a bee-like swarm behavioral pattern of strike-and retaliation. AMLAN: It will make for great media-era sports college broadcasting/reporting. ![]() The two soccer-wizards have calculated a special 'strategy' platform to engage in this Ivy League champions-tourney game, which they're calling Deformer-Soccer, since it will require special adaptation-plasticity for, say, the Big Green to utilize its special zone-teamwork with striking breakouts (with plastic passing flexibility-options) to compete with the Quakers' bee-line brand of swarming which may itself be adapted to create a swarming kind of zone-defense and offensive grip. ![]() The game begins on a bright day in autumn on the Ivy League field, and the sports-writers call this 'Deformer-Soccer' game one for the comic books, folks. The Big Green show-up with their expected unique team-flow style and engage with Penn's Quakers bee-line swarming play which catalyzes 2 quick goals by the strikers (Arnold and Patrick). However, Amlan/Marcus orchestrate midfield organization to create plasticity-passing to organize offense-line Big Green (Dartmouth) moves up the field in two straight lines to afford nice easy diagonal run scoring/striking, leading to 3 consistent/cool goals in the second-half. However, Penn's bee-swarm adapts in this 'Deformer-Soccer' game with a zone-gripping strike, tying the score, which then is broken when Amlan adapts his Big Green offense-line once more to create an assist-goal to Marcus by header, giving the Big Green a 4-3 magical/majestic triumph/trophy/title that day. It's Ivy League folklore, really! ![]() AMLAN: Penn was no 'normal' team, requiring us to 'invent' forms of reactive plastic offense! MARCUS: Amlan's brilliant late-game offense-adaptation facilitated my swift-header/crusher. AMLAN: I think this special/magical 'Deformer-Soccer' game for the Ivy League will be written in stories. MARCUS: They might say, "We saw a great Blue Dragon of 'distances' that day on the Ivy-field of collegiate soccer!" ![]() AMLAN: What makes soccer so special is not the execution of performance/media, but the fans who highlight dreams! ![]() That 'Deformer-Soccer' game between Dartmouth and UPenn shall never be forgotten, especially since its two Big Green (Dartmouth) stars that glorious/unforgettable college-sports day (Amlan/Marcus) showed up to give the fans what they really needed/wanted --- a 'language' for field-design. ==== "Money is everything" (Ecclesiastes) © 2021 Abishai100 |
