Vivica

Vivica

A Story by Abishai100
"

A snapshot of an American young woman with prototypical intuition and a sense of serendipity which brings her to dance.

"
A random but fun/colorful snapshot of female intuition and spirit, inspired loosely by the uncanny film Amelie, which I think is hard to 'write' if you're a heterosexual male (like me!) but is rewarding nonetheless if you're generally into psyche-distance storytelling (like me!). Thanks for reading (and enjoy!),

Vivica had studied at Brown and then planned on a career in socioeconomics, teaching, at the University of Pennsylvania. She'd grown into a smart attractive young woman and liked the activity of shopping at the Franklin Mills shopping center/mall where she'd spend countless hours on Saturdays selecting just the right perfumes, dresses, socks, and t-shirts and denim for her wardrobe or just to try things on at the mall. Vivica was the perfect blend of American intuition and sass and self-reliant self-composure, which is she'd never end up in any terribly awkward circumstance or danger itself. However, Vivica's life took a sudden change for the more 'complex' when she met a little girl at the Franklin Mills mall named Daphne who struck her interest in the finer things of play-dolls. She met Daphne at the girls' doll-toys section of the Boscov's store at Franklin Mills (mall) and agreed that if Daphne's mommy (Elizabeth) brought her to Boscov's again, Daphne would 'dart' to the doll-toy section in the hopes of seeing Vivica. That's why of course Vivica ended up continuing to frequent that doll-toy section of the Boscov's store at that Philly-mall, just to chat and dance with her newfound best little girlfriend Daphne. She told Daphne how she daydreamed about finding the ideal mate/husband someday, perhaps a race-car driver like Racer-X himself, and then Daphne confided in her too that she'd hoped to someday find a Prince Charming! Vivica's 'American life', quite typical in fact and anything but post-Orwellian or doomish, had become a quaint 'snapshot' into the general colors of modern human distancing.
