Some road-trippers have stumbled upon a strange California ghost-town which is apparently 'ruled' by unruly children who come out when no one's around, but the trippers have found them and discovered a strange apocalyptic secret.

The trippers are good old college campus folk who like dressing up for Halloween and are in the California ghost-town during the Halloween season and decide to walk around in their get-ups to first greet/cheer the townsfolk but soon realize their disguises must rather be used to wander around this 'dark town' ruled by unruly children who've apparently 'disposed' of their parents/elders as...ninja-priests!

AMLAN We'll use water-guns filled with homemade acid to burn holes in the streets for signs of treaty.
MARCUS: When these 'city of corn children' find the markings, they'll know they're engaging with diplomats certainly.

THE CHILDREN: We're wielding specially stolen saber-knives to destroy these wanderers (college-folk) and see what's true!

The children lure the college-trippers into their sacred/dark corn-field in the afternoon and see if they'll run the labyrinth as 'runners' while they're pursued from dark niches and from ditches, armed with their saber-knives.

CHILD: You managed to 'woo' me out of the pit of hellmouths in this dark town, mister(s).
TRIPPER 1: We knew there was revelation-magic in this otherwise diamond-blind town.
TRIPPER 2: Perhaps you can become 'gypsies of Hamelin' to find your good way back to the sun!

TRIPPER 3: There's a strange darkness anytime you notice 'rings' or 'circles' of children/youth in tumult.
TRIPPER 4: We're here to cease the advance of any 'red dragon' of incendiary species-death, friends.
TRIPPER 5: Perhaps we've become the 'city of corn adults' for these demon-stalking youth...a dragon-like event.

What's so darn strange about this odd tale is that it's ironically/alarmingly...true. There's times of tribulation/darkness when it may feel there's no youth/innocence but rather a molded form of socialized...detention.
