Two Princeton 'cougar' men venture into the dark Pine Barrens forest for a psycho-analysis but discover something much distanced.

One more non-sports 'alternative' for my Super Bowl fanfiction series/project, inspired by the 'detective' film The Blair Witch Project, which really altered the way we conceived of American darkness. Thanks for reading (signing off),

Two Princeton professors, Amlan Satan and Marcus Raki, decided to do a special 'investigation-report' about the strange modern American psycho-sociological trend of a macro-backlash linked to modern media and magazine culture (e.g., MTV, People Magazine, etc.) that created special antisocial and ritualistic Occult fascination-behaviors such as high-school shootings and forest-murders and witchcraft/hunts. They drew inspiration from modern representative films like Elephant and The Blair Witch Project when the decided they'd go 'searching' for 'radicals' or 'miscreants' perhaps 'hiding/lurking' in the dark and rich forests of the Pine Barrens (NJ/USA).

AMLAN: We'll be trekking into the Pine Barrens in special vigilante-costumes and armed.

MARCUS: We'll record our exploration for a special presentation about environmental psychology.

When the two Princeton teachers, both relatively young, arrived in the folkloric/eerie forests of the Pine Barrens, they immediately noted its offbeat and haunting quality/features and recorded themselves trekking through, searching for antisocial 'miscreants' engaged in forms of lurking or Occult practices linked to modern anti-American psycho-sociological behaviors.

AMLAN: We'll be wielding special toy water-rifles fitted with a glass-tube in the shooting-piston, filled with hot acid!
MARCUS: This will be our 'canonical' toy-weaponry/machinery for this project reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes.

The two daring Princeton men decided to make homemade HCL acid for their filling-liquid for their toy water-rifles, to turn these toys into 'acid-guns' for wielding inside the dark Pine Barrens forest so as to be prepared for a 'serious stance' against any truly menacing presence/psychopath who might be willing to perform bloody murder (in 'defense'), requiring inventive forms of security (homemade).

When Amlan/Marcus got to the iconic center of the Pine Barrens where a symbolic stone-cemetery graffiti like structure was erected to 'remember' the travelers/passerby who'd trekked into those dark forests seeing creative exploration or catharsis, they started to feel like someone (or something!) was somehow following/watching them.

AMLAN: The Pine Barrens are filled with very strange mythologies, but our experience now is getting truly weird.

MARCUS: We're armed/ready with our acid-rifles, but I sense this 'thing' following us is anything but normal.

The two Princeton men were aghast when they discovered what their 'erudition' hypotheses had drawn them towards --- there was indeed a psycho-sociologically developed 'presence' or force in those dark/haunting forests of the Pine Barrens, a spiritual/nihilistic 'backlash' against mainstream magazine-media culture in American civilization. What they encountered was a group of leaping costumed 'dark people' who resembled something out of a classic or gothic Occult film. Amlan/Marcus knew right away that their 'hypothesis' had drawn them towards a deadly 'woods game' involving serious Earth dementia.

PINE BARRENS POLICE/FIREMEN: We found and put out a Pine Barrens forest-fire and discovered the burnt bodies.

This is no 'ordinary' tale. The two ambitious Princeton professors were perhaps right about their 'theory' about this modern American antisocial/Occult trend. They'd truly found 'people' or 'presences' inside the dark Pine Barrens reflective of this strange modern tendency to 'indulge' in completely antisocial ritualistic behaviors. However, their only observations were in the journals they kept which were found/preserved! Amlan/Marcus however themselves are now long and spookily...dead.
