Belleview Children: The 'Dark' Nurse

A bus-incident brings a group of 'cabbage-patch kids' to Belleview hospital (New England) and inspires Johns Hopkins nurse Shirley to dream.

Shirley'd worked in the Belleview Hospital in New England for years after graduating from Johns Hopkins. She enjoyed her modest but comfy modern American life as a practicing nurse, making rounds in the regular patient rooms and also in the ICU and surgery divisions. She made sure she'd be the finest practicing nurse in Belleview, since Shirley'd been resolved to streamline her college education ambitions with the stern 'human' demands of modern medicine and patient-care. Shirley'd been an excellent care-giver and hospital staff-woman with expertise in the support of surgical operations, patient-needs, resource order, managerial advice, medicine resourcing, and general staff rationale. In fact, the hospital manager commented she'd become one of the best staff-nurses in Belleview, perhaps the finest in its 100-year history.

When a new flock of patients were admitted into Belleview from an English children's adoption center, having been flown into the United States for a diplomatic convention regarding international children's relief-fund work, with the bus transport having gotten into a serious accident on a Boston bridge by the Atlantic, Shirley'd seen Belleview suddenly become a 'field' of cabbage-patch kids, yearning and living to become 'buds' of organic survival rather than statistics of human frailty. Shirely's considered this her greatest symbolic 'crusade' at Belleview, since these 'cabbage-patch kids' re-presented her serious human 'vision' of super-heroism and medical attention regarding the temporal attention to youth-patient bio-mental needs (e.g., psychiatric/circulatory/companionship).

Shirley's wondered secretly to herself, ironically, if this strange bus-incident creating a Belleview staff duty to create a media-broadcast celebration of the human missionary mobilization to ensure the safety/health of Earth's most darling gems --- children --- was somehow a sign of the Great Tribulation, such as 9/11 and the Coronavirus. Shirley'd wanted Belleview hospital to become the new era 'United Nations,' a terrific human lighthouse for the proper/prestigious passion worthy of praise of children's medical care. After all, Belleview was to be a sign of great distancing comforts, after all. The bus-accident occurred on a trip to a Valencia-Madrid soccer game, and Shirley'd wanted these Belleview 'cabbage-patch kids' to believe their experience would forever be one of true American dollars. She'd become a real doll.
