Ponderosa

Ponderosa

A Story by Abishai100
"

A foreign businessman moves to NJ/USA to manage a special restaurant/eatery which will cast his Western 'dream' of duty.

"
A tale of the American Dream and the 'experience' of consumerism-hospitality in the modern West, inspired loosely by the life-expansion romanticism in the TV series Ponderosa, with no actual nonfictional allusion(s)/ties to the actual restaurant chain Ponderosa (though I grew up eating there with my family in New Jersey after moving there as a boy!). Enjoy,

The NJ/USA freeway is where many travelers/residents drive through and sometimes take special exits off into towns and small cities to get rest along their journey or stop at a Western restaurant like the iconic Ponderosa, which makes this stretch of American driving quite representative of the national identity of thoroughfare/hospitality/convenience.

A special investor/businessman/chef from Algeria has moved to the United States and has purchased a Ponderosa restaurant to manage, utilizing new methods and Western standards of commercial management to create a special American Dream enterprise worthy of the 'folklore' of migration/capitalism.

He believes his Ponderosa in NJ/USA will be a special location, conveniently located off one of those 'convenient' exits of the iconic freeway, and many travelers/residents do indeed start flowing into this buffet-restaurant of great location off the American road(s).

The businessman, Amlan, has converted to the Catholic faith and is a US citizen now and hopes to use some of his princely-inherited fortunes to manage a NJ Ponderosa that will echo the dreams of fortune told/expressed by many-a pioneer/traveler in the days of the Old West, when venture-capitalism was a thing of adventure.

AMLAN: This will be a 'toast' to the sheer excellence of the American business enterprise, highlighting the hospitality-tone.

Now, this special Ponderosa restaurant leaves nothing to be desired for the weary or even eager traveler/resident looking for a nourishing and tasty meal of buffet-proportions, able to choose from a plethora of appetizers, entrees, sides, and desserts to make their visit to this symbolic American eatery a time of good old dining (and thinking).

AMLAN: We care about presentation, sanitation, taste, quality, variety, and affordability for our wonderful patrons/visitors.

Ironically enough, before Amlan moved to the West, he read Patten's iconic work Wagons East and thought about the rough and living experience of migration in America, a thing of adventure and sometimes wrought humilities, and he drew inspiration from the idea of the Western dream. He might consider his NJ Ponderosa a station for folkloric continental expansion of duties.

Amlan even purchased a symbolic gold-cutlery dining set for his Ponderosa manager's office to showcase his special venture-pride in the quality and atmospherics of what makes living and nourishment in modern United States a thing of dogma (and distances).

Even most of the furniture in Ponderosa echoes the 'dreams' of living and finding nourishment in the Americas, a story that goes back so many generations and comprises the rubric of Western lyricism!

PATRON: What I find most pleasing is the manner of presentation of the variety of dishes placed in very sanitary format(s).

Every summer, Amlan makes one section of his now very popular NJ/USA eatery-destination a thing of magical reinvention, ordering a brand new 'set' of tables-and-chairs so returning customers get a feel of changing atmospherics in what's certainly an American eatery-business that's representative of the Western hospitality and consumerism!

He's now married to his Ponderosa assistant manager Shelley who finds his manner of business thinking and American dreaming quite reflective of what makes 'uniformed' hospitality a thing of rather great 'daylight' in the West.

AMLAN: We're not conducting a fat-cat business for the 'typical' tale but a venture worth the weight in good dining humors.

When Shelley orders a brand-new security-system for Ponderosa, ensuring that any threat of crime or vandalism created by vagrant passerby seeking to disrupt the appealing traffic/thoroughfare of customers/patrons/consumers, including robbers and pirates, Amlan feels 'extra-happy' that his Western 'dream' of hospitality eatery ambitions has erected a magical form of modern detention.
