ArabiaA Story by Abishai100Ambitious/promoted Colonel Lawrence must trek the deserts of 'Arabia' and discover rings of power/prestige/politics as the world becomes more direct.
A terrific fanfiction-nod to the amazing classic film Lawrence of Arabia (David Lean). Thanks for reading (signing off),
DISCLAIMER: I have no literary/academic ties to the film-makers of the Lean film and intend this simply to be a work of 'dioramic' design. ----
==== Colonel Lawrence was assigned to investigate reports of the Arabian king Faisal's revolt against the Turks, which was really a battle between old monarchy and new republican economics, since the Turks were allied to forces perhaps swayed against the British Empire. Lawrence, sent by the British, was to convene with Faisal and determine the intent of the Arabian monarch's forces/kingdom in the deserts of 'Arabia' and see if the British were to gain from this incitation with the Turks and perhaps subvert any economics-profit regime benefiting an alliance between Faisal and England. Lawrence, a relatively respected military-and-diplomacy man, though relatively young, was trusted by the British to serve in the Arabian deserts as an emissary of the Western agenda in Arabia. However, along the way, Colonel Lawrence was greeted (in the desert) by Sharif Ali, a man of a tribe in Arabia which had been nomadic and adventurous in nature. Ali was to 'escort' Lawrence to the campsite of King Faisal and determine if the forces assisting the Turks would be pushed back by the British. However, with all this war-minded profiteerism, Ali had grown cynical about Western intentions in the deserts of rich Arabia. He rather felt more sympathetic towards Faisal than towards Lawrence/Britain, though he seemed to remain 'honorable' towards Colonel Lawrence's surprisingly 'natural' fascination with the human destiny of the Arab people(s). He therefore befriended Lawrence and burgeoned their manly relationship as they trekked through the sands and hoped to greet another force-bishop/monarch, Auda of the Howeitat. ALI: You seem bold because my tribe would befriend yours, vain leader. AUDA: Your tongue reflects your foolish nature of indulgent intelligence. Despite the first-contentions between Ali and Auda, who'd previously been leaders of their respective 'rival' tribes in the desert, Colonel Lawrence swayed them to come along and seek this new 'British Empire axis' of power with King Faisal to drive back the Turks and create a real 'ring' of Western friendship in the desert. However, Auda/Ali both remained somewhat suspicious of Western intentions in Arabia. Meanwhile, the British diplomats negotiated in secret regarding these marvelous travels/adventures of the bold and inquisitive Colonel Lawrence who turned out to be quite a 'feather' in the crusade to create compact-pyramids in Arabia and hold back the tides of foreign influence. An American journalist joined Lawrence/Auda/Ali as they moved towards the domain of King Faisal, seeking exploits of desert-warfare against those allied to the Turks and non-British western influence(s). LAWRENCE: What if Britain becomes an 'umbrella' to the desert(s) of Arabia? FAISAL: Britain has guns; we do not; we need assistance; we need your assistance(s). Colonel Lawrence quickly and wisely deduced that King Faisal was an Arabian monarch of war-worn wisdom and weary strength. Faisal wanted the people of Arabia to continue to find ways to cultivate their unique and non-Western way of living while moving towards the 'modern age' with the right stuff of negotiation(s) with the British Empire. Lawrence was humbled to conclude/realize that all these group-visions in the desert, regarding the destinies of so many 'exotic' peoples/tribes, would somehow culminate into some really difficult challenge regarding the balance of power and outcomes of 'inventive' capitalism. Lawrence died young, in a strange motorcycle accident (random), and during his funeral, his British admirers happened to comment, "This fine Englishman managed to create serious commentaries on the 'nature' of Empire's derivation(s)." ==== "Money is everything" (Ecclesiastes) ![]() © 2022 Abishai100 |
