"

An adapted fanfiction of a symbolic consumerism-film of the late-20th Century reflective of commercial vanity.

"
One more fanfiction/adaptation of The Insider (Russell Crowe), which is a searing portrait of capitalism inquiry for this modern era, quite symbolic. Thanks for reading,

Jeffrey looked out his office window as his chemistry office co-workers at the Brown tobacco company celebrated a recent publishing achievement. He'd been fired that morning and drove home quietly to deliver the sad news to his frustrated wife who'd been preparing a nice dinner for their two daughters. Two months later, Jeffrey decided to call Lowell, a reporter with 60 Minutes (CBS) journalism (TV-program) and revealed his clandestine intent to disclose to the media his insider-info that his former tobacco company Brown had been lacing cigarettes with an addictive chemical to boost sales at the expense of consumers. Lowell wanted the revelation on a major 60 Minutes episode with legendary Wallace interviewing Jeffrey himself. They recorded the interview and everything was set.

Two months later, CBS legal informed Lowell that Jeffrey was being 'interrogated' by his co-workers as Brown tobacco company for failing to pay child-support payments from a previous/failed marriage and was therefore an unreliable witness. Lowell felt furious and frustrated and corroborated this devastating claim with Jeffrey who insisted he'd settled the matter privately with his ex-wife was simply being 'smeared' by Brown to keep his revelation a dark secret and away from the media. Lowell decided to believe in Jeffrey and pursued a private inquiry himself and realized Jeffrey, the tortured soul, whose second wife had now left him too, was telling the truth. Lowell decided to man a one-person crusade in this case and pursued a reputation-clearing mission for Jeffrey.

Two months later, Jeffrey's testimony about Brown tobacco company was indeed aired and 60 Minutes managed to win a huge case for the poor whistleblower in the modern era. However, 60 Minutes would be questioned for its inability to immediately air the original testimony-video, and even the legendary interviewer Wallace was brought under suspicion. However, Jeffrey's testimony managed to shatter notions in the cigarette market in the United States and soon thereafter Lowell would start work for Frontline and leave 60 Minutes for the attacks on his good friend Wallace. He'd later claim that the work he did for Jeffrey ironically 'cemented' his spiritual commitments to journalism/TV in America and that no form of 'secretive' capitalism would be justified at the expense of the regular consumer. This was in the end a 'short tale' of unusual proportion, but it was an American story of 'diction' proportion!
