A folk-tale about the Library of Congress!

Amlan Satan went on the Dartmouth-UCSD exchange-program in his junior-year and worked at the Geisel Library at UCSD as an assistant-librarian in the summer of 1999.

AMLAN SATAN: This sort of work 'awakened' me to the realization that library-employment really offers an American dream.

After he graduated from Dartmouth, Satan gained some valued librarian-work experience in DC before applying officially for a position-of-employment at the legendary Library of Congress (Washington).

AMLAN SATAN: The resume I had to put together (organize) for my Library of Congress job-requisition had to be ideal.

When he got the job he dreamed of, he noted that many of the professional journals and magazines of media-symbolism such as Nat-Geo offered readers images of company/consumer ads such as Tabasco-sauce ads/pictures within the pages of the journals/magazines. Some of the visitors/patrons at the Library of Congress liked making xerox-copies of these ads from the magazines for samples of consumerism-frequency inside the library's collection(s), to take 'stock' of the traffic-impact of Western consumerism. Satan realized that the accessibility of consumer-ads in magazines/journals at the Library of Congress were symbols of the capitalism statistics of observable non-professional/personal activity.

AMLAN SATAN: You get this terrific 'cross-section' of consumer-placement(s) in the collections at the Library of Congress!

You get this terrific 'snapshot' therefore inside the Library of Congress of the modern trend of consumerism-patterns and placement in professional publications contained inside federalized collections of magazines/journals. Satan (Amlan), the newest librarian at the Library of Congress, decided to write an editorial in the famous Post about this traffic-stat of consumerism-placements/imagery in federally recognized collections.

AMLAN SATAN: The security/personnel inside the Library of Congress is highly-skilled and depended to be security-pros!

A movie-maker decided to film a certain scene of his new 'Ethan Hunt' film inside the Library of Congress, and this film-maker brought his camera(s) and one of this stars (actresses) inside the Library of Congress after filming the pre-sequence/scene on a nearby cleared road outside DC.

The film-maker wanted to make a scene in which a stalking psycho who followed a DC resident (Georgetown student) inside the Library of Congress and plotted also to steal a valuable painting mounted inside the library and swap it for a replica while trying to simultaneously kidnap the female student and take her hostage in a 1-2 crime-punch.

AMLAN SATAN: We rarely get movie-stars inside the Library of Congress, and this event shall be a shot of magazine dollar.

However, during the filming, a real-life psycho did indeed follow the film-crew inside the Library of Congress after reading the new librarian's Post feature about consumerism-stats/placements in pro-magazines/journals in federally recognized collections as patterns of commerce and wanted to make a psycho-message about anti-capitalism terrorism. This psycho wanted to blend into the film-crew as one of the workers/stuntmen and double as the film-story actor/character (the movie-story psycho!) stuntman while trying to 'actually' steal the valuable painting inside the Library of Congress, swap it for a replica, and then kidnap the film-actress who was playing the Georgetown student in a 1-2 crime-punch!

PSYCHO: I'll make 'light' of Amlan Satan's Post feature and stalk this film-actress inside the labyrinth of Library of Congress.

ACTRESS: I got the 'eeriest' feeling that the movie-character psycho stuntman was actually following me around inside!

When librarian Amlan Satan realized the psycho stuntman was actually not part of the film-crew and was a real-life psycho who'd been eyeing and handling the valuable painting-swap/replica filming scene of the movie-production inside the Library of Congress (and who'd also been 'eerily' following around the film-actress portraying the Georgetown female student), Satan decided he'd have to perform a vigilante act of heroics to save-the-day! He pulled out a handy water-gun toy he happened to have in his bag, one belonging to his son (Damian) and walked up to the real psycho and jabbed it in his back and whispered, "I'm an undercover agent with the D-IRA (Diplomatic Irish Republican Army) and am securing this Library of Congress film-sequence for an Interpol-relations commerce-traffic media-project involving baron artworks securities for international journalism and know you're some kind of lunatic or rogue-terrorist and have filled my toy water-gun with homemade acid in the library bathroom; I'm escorting you out to the hands of the DC investigator(s), pal."

THE POST: Not only has the new librarian Amlan Satan provided a nifty consumerism-feature, but he's also saved-the-day!

This is a simple but colored American hero-folktale about the Library of Congress and why we work these days to secure commercial traffic in this post-9/11 era, simply to remind ourselves why federally/socialized resources for civilization re-present our modern democratic imaginations about the value of United States dollars...and destiny!

AMLAN SATAN: The film-crew actress kissed and thanked me that day; I felt like a real-life James Bond inside that library!
