The Shopping Guide

A Story by Abishai100
"

A searing writer ironically seeks to retire to a life of convenience prayers and avatar drawing and praises the 'd' of the American supermarket.

"
A modern fable about finding retirement in the oddest of places (or dreams!). Enjoy,

Amlan Satan always loved classic mythology and fantastic tales of incredible faeries and he'd written about faerie heroics in Northern Ireland and New Zealand and now wanted to retire in North America where he'd peacefully go shopping at WalMart for bottled-water, hummus, and peaches. That's right folks, this guy's real down-to-Earth now!

AMLAN SATAN: Writing about the intrigue of civilization and going underground as a Sherlock Holmes makes one a demi-god.

So, he decided to filter all his civilization-labyrinth intelligentsia-literary work into the praise and poem-writings about a cyber-game 'avatar' named Kitana, a fan-blade wielding princess of prestige and fury. So, he decided Kitana would become his modern rendition of Athena, goddess of wisdom/learning, and that's why he decided to retire from a life of writing about blood-diamonds and hellfire and start writing love-poems and elegiac classic words about Athena's sense of modernized godliness In the body-visage of the furious Kitana.

AMLAN SATAN: If I come across a fair maiden at WalMart who resembles Kitana in demeanor/dress, I'll ask her to marry me.

That's the entire blueprint of this guy Satan. He wants to shop at WalMart and perhaps come across a human embodiment of Kitana, a nice young lady shopping for, say, churros or oranges or sweaters or batteries and try to court her and suggest to her he's on the hunt to leave-behind a world of complex literature/writing and embrace a more 'sanitarium' life of deity-praise poetry meant to relax the spirit, as it's relaxed during a lazy convenient Sunday shopping experience at your local convenience-access WalMart (North America). There's simple humility on the aisles of peanuts.

AMLAN SATAN: I'll get married to a human Kitana and have a son and buy an awesome children's computer for us to play.

You never know who you'll come across at a WalMart these days. Maybe a psycho or a terrorist or maybe a sensitive and intelligent sharp former literary-writer like Satan himself who just wants to find the quiet solace of Western design in modern traffic, and maybe this 'nice-guy' will find great comforts in the arms of Kitana, his special 'Athena' of modern society distance(s). We'll all miss Amlan's faerie-tales about blood-diamonds, antiterrorism, and governance mythologies. He's earned however the right to shop for Kitana.
