Atco-Theater: Kitana Dreads

Atco-Theater: Kitana Dreads

"

Will a post-tragedy venture for daddy/daughter in Atco (NJ) create a 'ghost-romance' for video-game inventiveness...or modern drawing?

"
One more Mortal Kombat character-tale but with down-to-Earth diarism. Enjoy,

The wonderful Atco cinemaplex in South Jersey (USA) cloed down after many years of popular operation(s), offering travelers/residents of the 'Garden State' an excellent 'pit-stop' for modern cinema entertainments. This was a site where many a high-school student and townsfolk would trek to for the latest movie-releases and showings, and now it's a ghostly memory in the Garden State. However, there's another sub-tale here.

Amlan Satan is a widower and single-father living in Atco (NJ) as a blood diamond political-thriller writer and has his daughter Ezzy to worry about after the passing of her mother (Shelley) due to cancer. Satan would take Ezzy to Atco before it closed down and is trying to infuse some new-life energy but doesn't really understand right now what he'd say to Ezzy, since she always loved going to Atco with her mom.

Amlan decides to take Ezzy to a new drive-in movie-theater opening somewhere near Atco that coming summer season, when there's a great buzz about the new Jurassic Park franchise movie sequel/release, which will draw out many fans in the Garden State and perhaps for multiple viewings that summer. Amlan is going to take Ezzy there for perhaps 4-5 viewings of the dinosaur-treasure film and starts to think of himself as a father-figure more than ever (rather than a pensive artist!).

AMLAN: Ezzy loved Atco, but I think this drive-in experience will help her 'forget' driving past that ghostly-area now.

Satan's writings about blood-diamond intrigue and IQ have won him 'legions' of fans in the cyber-clubs and circles of cult-political writings, and it's ironic that his childhood fascination with Tales from the Crypt yielded a more politically oriented style of writing/career when he grew up, but he always infuses a sense of youthful daring in his blood-diamond tales, set in places as varied as Northern Ireland, British Columbia, and New Amsterdam.

AMLAN: Being a 'cinematic writer' I think gave me a special appreciation for the evaluation of movie-culture in New Jersey!

Well, when his daughter Ezzy tells him about her newfound fascination with Mortal Kombat video-games, which she learned from her new neighbor/buddy/classmate Timmy, with whom she spends many Saturday mornings, Amlan agrees to buy Ezzy a Playstation and Kombat-X edition of the combat-series featuring outrageous warriors in very daring stances of graphic martial arts with bloody darkness. Ezzy tells Amlan about her favorite warrior-princess, Kitana, and Amlan can't believe his eyes when he starts to think he's falling in love again for the first time since the departure/death of his wife Shelley.

AMLAN: This time around, when I took Ezzy to the drive-in theater near Atco, I thought I'd seen a 'Kitana' aura; I was saved.

Amlan wondered if he'd started going insane, fascinated and even hypnotized by a video-game avatar, but this 'Kitana' warrior-princess utterly captured his consciousness! In fact, that upcoming Halloween, after 'secretly' becoming a Mortal Kombat 'super-fan' in the Garden State, Amlan Satan decided to take Ezzy trick-of-treating, costumed as a Kombat-X warrior-avatar, the cyborg-gypsy titan Cyrax!

EZZY: You and Kitana should marry, daddy!
AMLAN: I think I'm 'nuts' for Kitana, darling.
EZZY: She's just your type, daddy!
AMLAN: It's a movie-daydream universe, isn't it, Ezzy?
EZZY: She'll remind you of mom, daddy!
AMLAN: Ezzy, I believe you are in the right here.
EZZY: You think you're thinking like you're a kid!
AMLAN: Maybe we all need something like that (sometimes).
EZZY: You said you saw a 'Kitana ghost' at the drive-in last summer.
AMLAN: I'll never forget it, Ezzy my sweetheart.
EZZY: Anything happens in New Jersey, daddy.
