The Gate: Dreaded!

The Gate: Dreaded!

A Story by Abishai100

A fable about a social-house 'event' in the spring drawing a 'relative-visitor' from the UK for a 'distant' memory on Earth.

"
A social-house fable for this era of social-media, inspired by Animal House. Enjoy,

I took an Aer Lingus flight from Belfast to JFK and prepared to reunite with my Ivy League brother for his special reunion weekend campus social-house (BonesGate) St. Patrick's Day event.

When I arrived on the idyllic Ivy campus (New England) that spring, I realized what fortune(s) Americans cherish/celebrate in this era of commerce-driven lifestyle and capitalism flowery (e.g., Home Shopping Network, Bloomberg, Nickelodeon, EWTN, etc.). If you're a Catholic in New England (United States), and you attend a school/academy like this, you're blessed, man!

I purchased an amazing Studebaker 'classic' stereo-box for the St. Patrick's Day event at BonesGate on the Ivy campus, for what would certainly be a 'special' celebration of Catholic-community student/alumni festivities for the spring social event, one of music, ale, chicken pie, and lots of windows.

My girlfriend happens to be a professor at a nearby Ivy school and drove up to meet me while I'd reunite with my brother at the BonesGate event, and what I noticed the most on campus was its special hospitality of human traffic/activity reflective of a modern perception of customs, commerce, and couture!

I of course dressed up like a funloving pirate ('Scruffy') for the St. Patty's event at BonesGate, hoping my appearance would strike the right 'tone(s)' for socialized distances across continents brought 'smaller' for this event signifying a Western/American flowery regarding costumed dollar-rhetorics.

BONES-GATE: This gate hangs high and hinders none...the Hatter is male/female, our St. Patty's event is bar-none top.

REVIEW (Newspaper): This event, costumed like life in ancient times, was nothing short of symbolic of St. Patty's dreams.

My girlfriend (Yale) and I danced and drew pictures for the students/alumni at the St. Patty's (BonesGate) event, and the cheers about the eerie alien-creature renditions reminded people what Americans love best about the 'gathering' of creative imaginations for this age of social-media and personalized art(s).

When I returned to sectarian 'troubled' Belfast, I told my neighborhood pals that what I brought back with me from BonesGate was a 'real' or 'true' sense of the season's Catholic festivities surrounding the shared-spaces of youthful globalized fantasy about that 'immaculate' (TV) reception.
