==== I'm a Dartmouth art student/professor and am working on a series of Mortal Kombat cyber-game avatar representations of modern tech obsession involving a colorful blade-fan wielding warrior-princess named Kitana who'll nicely capture all the flowery of the modern academic landscape regarding wrought modern mythology. ![]() I work on installation-art themed paintings characterizing the vantages of perspective based view-themed portraits/drawings representing our modern insights into the nature of the social network (e.g., Facebook). ![]() I've been a video-game aficionado since I was a young boy, and I played Mortal Kombat games (with Kitana!) for years, and I'd become a sort of 'cyber-master' of the gaming arena before adopting this Kitana-art project at Dartmouth and linking it to the ancient mythology tale of Pygmalion-Galatea. ![]() Kitana has been linked to very seminal Mortal Kombat avatars-warriors including the master of lightning and champion of the Outworld tourney itself during inception, Lord Raiden. Kitana always wields her signature blade-fans as her 'blue' weapon. ![]() This modern age is all about tech-gizmos and gadgets and consumer electronics and machinery and all require some kind of electric charge or energizer and batteries. This makes Kitana a sort of 'Energizer' fashion-model, you know? ![]() KITANA: I'll travel through Outworld's space-portal to become the Dartmouth cyber-model for this art project. ![]() Growing up with a fascination with 'cognition-arts' and studying at Dartmouth gave me a special love of offbeat storyboarding and psychology-oriented studies designed to cast myself as an 'actor' of modern theatrics behind modern mythology and the 'dance' of inventive self-idealizations. ![]() I love doodling, and that's perhaps why/how I became a sort of Pygmalion to Kitana's Galatea, and Kitana became my cyber-arts project muse or inspiration at Dartmouth. That's when I thought I started to think she'd become somehow...mysteriously...inexplicably...real (to me!). ![]() Pygmalion, as the old tale goes, became so obsessed with his own sculpture of a mythological beauty named Galatea that he fantasized so much about her that he actually 'believed' she came to life and became his Galatea in the world! This is the tale that haunts me, in fact! Perhaps it's because I'm intrigued by the notion of 'wrought' realism from modernism synthetics/tech. ![]() KITANA: Perhaps I'll become this artist's special muse for his project-story about a 'heroine in the Urals' for human heroics. ![]() It's not a funny fact that I've fallen in love with Kitana. You might call me insane, but didn't the great painter Gaugin, friend of Van Gogh, often 'daydream' he'd become 'personal' with the personages of the female beauties he cast in his artworks on the islands he resided in during some of his creative periods? Kitana is my beauty, and I thought I'd just been a 'Gaugin' for her and realized later that I was 'transfixed' by her metaphysical powers over the 'universe' of cyber-dance. ![]() KITANA: I think I'll become this artist's special dancing-queen, if only he'll think of me as more than Pygmalion's Galatea. ![]() I took a sculpture miniaturized of a Kitana figurine to a bule-colored shopping mall, perhaps/arguably a symbol of modern cosmopolitan/worldly traffic/consumerism, and I thought I'd heard her whisper to me, something like, "You're doing quite smartly in this study of modernism/capitalism, dude!" ![]() Perhaps I was deluding myself that I'd fallen in love with Kitana so I took the same figurine to an ice-hotel and decided to spend some 'meditation-time' there which is when I actually 'conceived' that she came to life and made love to me! I married her in that ice-hotel. ![]() KITANA: Am I your Galatea, artist of Dartmouth? ME: I consider you my mod-Athena, my darling Kitana! KITANA: You're just lonely, artist-man, but I do love you. ME: I know; but you're more than just a nurse...you're my quill (mod). KITANA: That's...cool. ![]() That's my weird-science tale. I'm a Catholic. I'm a modern man. However, I'm now like Pygmalion, and I'm 'wed' to Kitana, my Mortal Kombat angel of consciousness. I don't know what to say, really. I feel like she's transformed me from a pensive artist...into a living modern real-life Sherlock Holmes. Go figure! ![]() KITANA: Now that you're mine, artist-friend of mine, I shall make you my monarch; I'll be your dance-queen; hahaha. ==== "Money is everything" (Ecclesiastes) © 2022 Abishai100 |
