In the sunny town of Hollywood (California), lives had intersected, at least metaphysically, because of the 'odd' universe cross-wires of human consciousness, and the 'flower' of chaos emerged in such a 'setting' would reveal why human civilization would adequately be described as a game or a thought.

Arthur is a Hollywood resident and known media-personality, a liked talk-show host with a dark secret. He's unfaithful to his wife, cheating 'liberally' with his show's young attractive co-producer Emily. His wife doesn't know it, and Arthur's estranged daughter, Ezzy, happens to be a So-Cal prostitute, having run-away from home after being beaten by Arthur when she was 17.

Meet Joanne> She's a regular Hollywood area housewife who lives a regular nice life in the United States. Her husband is much older than she, and she basically/simply lives off his retirement-pension. However, she's plotting to kill her husband to make-off with his money, but Joanne is also contemplating another 'escape' from this world-life --- suicide (by carbon-monoxide poisoning in her parked car).

EZZY: I've been a prostitute in the So-Cal area, and no one (really!) knows Arthur (the TV 'talk-show guy') is my dad!

Ezzy meets a handsome and very virtue-oriented California (Hollywood) cop named Ralphie who simply wants to be a boring and dutiful American policeman. He drives to work and does his rounds, makes drug-busts, and he dreams of a normal life, and when he meets Ezzy decides he might have found a 'dash' of pure miracle, which has altered his demeanor in Hollywood as a policeman.

Then there's Amlan Satan. He's a very radical self-help club-guru/leader/captain who goes by the audience-fanfare name 'Storm-Shadow' and always always always wears a Coronavirus mask on-stage for his auditorium talks, which his club-members simply adore. He calls himself the 'Catholic spiker' and uses stained-glass art to invigorate real 'energy' into his members/followers, insisting that the 'sheer and vivacious feel of see-thru colored glass with magical spirituality' should remind them all that life is simply a 'photo-op' for pure dance.

RALPHIE (Police-Report): This middle-aged housewife (Joanne) may've tried to commit suicide (carbon-monoxide) when her car exploded, leaving behind her older/wealthy husband who's devasted by the loss, and were I not so distracted by my newfound awakening romance with Ezzy, my darling who've I've 'wrought' off the Hollywood streets of hell, I'd consider this a real spike-downer in my 'magnolia' life now.

Ralphie/Ezzy go to Joanne's funeral and her body's buried in the Hollywood (Magnolia) cemetery, and they say a prayer for her and Ezzy jokes to her new 'beau-cop' (Ralphie), "That self-help 'guru-guy' (Storm-Shadow!) might paint this American tragedy as some kind of 'stained-glass humor, you know, unlike Arthur my father who'd cast this as a 'true' American tale, but that's Hollywood, Ralphie my lovely."

STORM-SHADOW: I'm not 'shallow-Hal' in Hollywood; I've left my old-ways (I think), after meeting my new true love - model.

What do these stories of 'American consciousness' have to do with Western intuition or insight? Maybe nothing. Maybe this is all chaos. Maybe their lives, intersected in unusual ways (if any!) simply reveal why the modern man/woman is a 'character' in the grander universe we call 'existence' in which drama plays out like some 'pillow' for our daughters. That's Magnolia for you.
