The Dated Gloves

The Dated Gloves

A Story by Abishai100
"

A pensive Boston radio-personality accounts for his 'taste' in civilization and gives us a 'visage' of New England (Western!) dough.

"
An existentialism 'tale' set right within the 'gears' of pedestrian society (New England). Enjoy,

I live alone. I live in a Boston (New England) house, and I make rent because of a radio-show I host as late-night DJ ('Storm-Shadow'), offering music ranging from Buffalo Tom to Till Tuesday to Nena Simone while also offering some political ideas about progressive capitalism monitors, democratic healthcare issues, and modern Eastern European hellholes.

I consider myself something of a 'James Bond' of the political landscape analysis, and I'm thinking of writing a fantastic/great novel, a thrill-ride about Interpol-relations agents infiltrating blood-diamond piracy storages through hockey-mask heists while doubling as a local patriotism-raising ice-hockey team in New England. All this 'study' about civilization 'psyche' and nuances makes me feel like I'm dissecting social consciousness and moving through it like a 'James Bond' of the West, but I consider my Boston house a nice 'retreat' from the mad evil ugliness of the 'real' world and spend some 'off-duty' time collecting things of American worth/value as a 'hobbyist' or collector!

What's my prize-treasure of American 'diadem' significance, you might ask? Well, it's my Topps-Traded Bo Jackson (Royals) card! It's a fresh rookie-card, which many collectors consider a 'right-stuff' in the halls/annals of sports-memento and treasure. It's worth quite a bit in terms of actual money, but its real charm is its metaphysics-value, which I contend reflects an Americana labyrinth 'erection' of diamonds-and-dollars flowing through the current-lines of electric capitalism, casting this Topps-item as a 'jewel' of the Nile, as they say. I'm quite proud of it!

REVIEW: This guy's radio-show in Boston (New England) is quite a 'thing' for today's listeners; it's a nice memory of Orson Welles I'd argue; especially because the music-blend and pseudo-intellectual 'butlery' makes for a nice time of analysis/evaluations of civilization labyrinth 'veiled' intelligence, which makes this Boston DJ ('Storm-Shadow') a rather 'cool' and customer-friendly James Bond of the media-time.

Suddenly, one day I notice a horrid news-story about a car-wreck involving rival underworld boss-henchmen duking it out after a car-collision and only reminding the good shopping-people of New England that even in the West, there's that 'sound' or echo of enduring violence/vice. Thank goodness for the FBI, so we'll 'know' if this 'crash' is linked to diamond-loss or Cobra-terrorist invasion during St. Patrick's Day. That's life now. You live with it.

Of course, I get a guest in my Boston house one night (Saturday). She loves my show and claims she's turned the 'prodigy' rising fresh-face/star in Tinseltown into real people of TV-cinema value, folks! This lady is a gorgeous woman of I think Irish-Catholic or Dutch origins, and she wanted to peruse through my personal treasures at home, to get a 'sense' of the man behind the radio-show 'sensation' among cult-fans in Boston ('Storm-Shadow').

SHELBYE: Wow, man, like your Jackson-Topps card is supremo-topps!
AMLAN (Me): I have lots of cool stuff, and I'm psyched you're in my house now.
SHELBYE: Maybe you'll keep me as one of your 'treasures' in New England, hehe.
AMLAN (Me): Maybe!
