Dr. Faerie: Romancing the Dyer

Dr. Faerie: Romancing the Dyer

"

A table-game 'addict' on campus becomes more fascinated by her theosophy professor's 'faerie'-IQ and discovers strange truths as her life becomes more distant.

A life-fantasy vignette inspired by My Stepmother Is an Alien (Kim Basinger). Enjoy,

A college student (Tandy) was obsessed with her fun and colorful ice-hockey table-top game in her campus house living-room and would invite any visiting guest/friend to play games with her on it, enjoying the iconic table-sliding position athlete figurine motions with their tiny sticks to jostle the sliding miniature-puck gamepiece for chances to score swift shots right into the opponent's net with elegant/clever offense-defense balances to make team visions of puck-movement quite...defined.

TANDY: I spend too much time on that ice-hockey tabletop game-board, and I think I'm neglecting my normal campus/eds.

Tandy decided to take some time-off from this tabletop ice-hockey obsession at her campus and started going to the library much more on Friday nights (the time she's spent the most obsessive hours playing that ice-hockey game in her house!) to read about a 'superstition' mythology that would preoccupy her time away from it. She started reading about 'faeries' (tiny winged humanoids of the forest with message of wisdom/warning). A faerie, like a Christian mythos winged 'angel', offers symbolic ideas about immortality/grace but with a more 'ghost-like' cryptic (or even fun!) view of the complexity of spiritual/mental liberties. Faeries had become popular through the mainstream psychology works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of Sherlock Holmes stories.

TANDY: I'm taking a new theosophy course now, and I've a tiny crush on my professor who's been a 'scholar' of faerie-myth.

Nevertheless, Tandy continued to be diligent with her faerie-studies and she hoped all this time with this new theosophy course (as well as her 'tiny-crush' on her theosophy-prof, Dr. Amlan Satan) would help her get over her ice-hockey tabletop obsession. She'd been a Catholic her entire life and was 19 years-old (of dating-age!) and fostered the idea of a 'courtship' with her very eccentric but 'cute' theosophy-prof (Dr. Satan) who liked faerie-myth as much as she and decided to spend more 'mind-space' time thinking of ways to impress him with 'academic' diligence instead of thinking about that addictive tabletop ice-hockey game.

DR. SATAN: This faerie-figurine, I got in Romania (Transylvania), is by far my favorite, Tandy!
TANDY: Wow, it's really special, Professor.
DR. SATAN: I've given it a special 'house-alias' (for my own mind-liberties)..."Ezzy".
TANDY: Is that like short for...'Esmerelda', Professor?
DR. SATAN: You inferred the reference...from the Hugo novel (yeah!)?
TANDY: Well, I admit this faerie-IQ stuff is quite alluring...I'm confessing to you I've a small 'crush' on you now!
DR. SATAN: Tandy...you're rather charming with your 'academic' passion for faeries to me too...maybe you like Ezzy.
TANDY: This is the start of something special (me thinks).

Tandy and Dr. Satan got married the next year, and their wedding ring was ironically/incidentally a supermarket toy-vending machine child's purple gem-ring which was a symbol of their newfound/shared fascination with faerie-studies/myths. Two years later, Dr. Satan revealed to the shocked Tandy, now his 'human' wife, that he was indeed a real-life faerie who'd disguised as a human college professor to teach students about the 'diligent' academic/educational approach to mythology/fantasy imagination or storytelling and investigations. Tandy had 'earned' the right to know this about Amlan Satan, a 'green-faerie' from the forest who became a human teacher for messages about wisdom/warning, because she'd transformed herself from a ice-hockey table-game addict into a faerie-mythos diligent student of 'practical' life-lyrics.

The strange 'twist' to this 'faerie-tale' is that Dr. Amlan Satan never disclosed his 'faerie-ID' to his future-wife/student Tandy until he felt 'comfy' that she'd become 'adjusted' and objectively mature about the fantasy-life 'vision' of a balance-line in the mind/spirit between imagination...and detention!
