Detroit: Folk-Team

Detroit: Folk-Team

A Story by Abishai100
"

Can modern urban serendipity/randomness construct an imagination of modern divinity?

"
An urban-matrix 'life-traffic' personality-intersection 'fable' inspired by Grand Canyon (Steve Martin).

In Detroit, the fables once concerned the great American 'dream' of the auto-industry, and also music, but today it's mostly about Thanksgiving football, which encompasses our modern fable about a funny 'team' of folks in the iconic city which erects a special dream about customs, manners, complications, and ultimately, religion.

The 'folk-team' as it's referred to in this modern story are immersed in the regular life and tokens/diadems of American civilization, and most of them are Catholic (by faith!). These individuals compose a special 'city-fencing' for customs/etiquette meditations. This 'folk-team' cares about money like every other soul on Earth today.

Amlan is the proud father of Ezzy, his darling daughter from Algeria. They spend lots and lots and lots of time at WalMart, and they're often approached by beautiful women who want to know what kind of 'loving' daddy Amlan is, but he strangely always shrugs them off with the oddest most polite tone(s) and says things like, "Well, you're a very attractive woman, miss, worthy of a Facebook-splash, but I'm considering joining the priesthood, and Ezzy is my only prayer."

SHELBYE: I just want to drink a lot, drive a lot, have sex a lot, and meet lots of great football fans every Thanksgiving.

We haven't introduced all the members of this faerie-like 'folk-team' of iconic Detroit (United States). However, you'll soon learn they're each (everyone!) worth a good/classic Polaroid toy/image. Follow along.

AJAY: I'm Amlan's brother, and one of identical triplets living in good old Detroit, and I'm a blood-diamond officer/ICM.

Nancy is Ajay's on-and-off meter-maid girlfriend but they both cheat on each other, and many (including Ajay's concerned/religious triplet-brother Amlan!) think this sort of Detroit cheaters-living is akin to a dark faerie-tale, especially since this sort of urban consciousness only 'sullies' the bright-lights of Facebook-culture, no?

Then there's Derek and Lisa, very wealthy Euro-Americans who like spending lots of money on diamonds, football organization sponsorships, and antiques. Amlan/Ajay think they're the worst aristocracy, but their friends think they're the 'jewels' of Detroit trying to feel/stay hip and modern.

IMRAN: I'm the third triplet (Amlan/Ajay) of the trio-bros of Detroit, and I'm a psychiatrist, and my divorce has left me sad!

After his divorce, Imran met the gorgeous exotic librarian-woman of Detroit, Shara, who completes this 'folk-team' of multicultural oddities in modern Detroit, the once-fabled 'auto'-city of dreams. Shara is reading Milton in night-school and is forgetting about her recent failed (lesbian) relationship and thinks Imran is very nerdy but quite 'Facebook-delightful.'

AMLAN: I'll never marry; all I care about is Ezzy, my daughter and joining the priesthood and of course WalMart.

Nancy thinks the strangers of Detroit might compose a special robot-lion 'squad' to reflect how the 'folk-team' aesthetic of modern urban/civilization traffic may be imprinted onto the 'fingerprinting' of discontinuity innocence.

AJAY: I've got to deal with this blood-diamond bank hellmouth and wonder what Nancy's up to; if she's in love (Amlan) -- ha.
