A toast to this year's thrilling ice-hockey (Canada!) Calgary Flames and inspired 'very loosely' by Slap-Shot (Paul Newman), which I hope you like,

I live in Calgary and we've got a special 'circle' of friends/family there and call each other Red-Mask, since we're huge fans of the red-color team uniformed Flames (ice-hockey!) and use video-game entertainment on Fridays to cast simulations of the Stanley Cup winning season and this year's top-division team Flames, rivaling the Oilers.

The Flames ice-stadium is quite a modern marvel, and inside you find all the amenity of hot-dogs and cheerleaders and fans and athletes/coaches who make ice-hockey such a 'treat' for Canada (North America). You don't have to be a Flames 'insider' to feel like an inside-man in this arena!

I've been an ice-hockey fan all my life, and we used simulation-gaming when I was in college (Dartmouth) to enjoy the thrills of the modern ice-sport, which requires sure-footedness, swift teamwork IQ, grit/courage, and good old imagination! I love my Bauer fan-gear and sports-play gear and consider my contribution to the team as a striker and assist-leader great.

The ladies of Red-Mask are no less 'cool' than the gentleman. We're from around the world, mostly Catholic(s)-by-faith, and we love Flames-TV, sweaters/bands, and sunglasses.

My current girlfriend, also a member of Red-Mask is a Facebook-nut. She likes posting images of Canadian tourists/residents and making blogs of Flames sportsmanship fashions.

My daughter, Ezzy, is someday going to be an executive manager of the Flames business org, once I invest enough in NASDAQ to make 'cool millions' with Ford (F) company.

The interior of the Flames-arena is quite a marvel to visualize. The fans/spirit make the game(s) come alive, and we're all hoping our 'frontline' will cast and hoist the team to great media-lights this season, as it did in the late '80s, when Theo Fleury was part of the Cup-winning 'force' from Heavens.

HOLLYWOOD REPORTER: The Flames en-route to a cinema-worthy season this year; let's hope Leo invests wisely!

RED-MASK: We keep a Catholic red-faerie figurine gargoyle as our circle avatar; symbolizes pure solidarity and spirits.

I dress up sometimes as a 'blood-diamond' James Bond, protecting the good Canada-city from the bank box security-IQ depression(s) of corrupt barons working in the underground as 'agents' of Cobra (haha).

RED-MASK: If ice-hockey is beauty, then let the social-media age be cast as annals of the records for 'maiden' software.

One of the teenage members of our unit is involved with the circulation of the PS-NHL games that we use to simulate the Cup-glory of 1989, and he has that coveted Fleury rookie-card we all consider quite magazine-worthy (sports-writers!).

SPORTS-WRITER: If the Flames go far, really far, this season, perhaps Calgary's 'flame' will remind all of Canadian IQ.

I personally think we have what-it-takes to down rival Oilers in the playoffs, and even if we fail, no one should forget what we glorified as division-toppers/scorers/chums.

RED-MASK: All 'circles' have trophies, and our Fleury-rookie memento is a souvenir of the ice-sport toast to pure genius!

There's no circle without toasts to the gatherings of Calgary drinks and wings. We love Western cuisine for its zesty quality, hearty protein(s), and spirited old digestion faerie-tales (haha).

RED-MASK: Yes, folks, the Cup has been won by the Flames on PS; and perhaps the '89 champs will be 'cast' as avatars too!

I bought this funny Flames table-top game for Red-Mask, and when we play, one of us always gets good-fortune(s). We consider this our version of Calgary-Ouija, and I wonder (really!) if such entertainment for modern times re-presents a social distance to the ideals of city-depression!
