A patriotic vignette of Somerville-lore involving strange-IQ, vigilantism, a dark presence, GI Joe women, and a great father-daughter 'sideshow'.

This is a 'dark' Somerville faerie-tale about a father-daughter duo living in the snowy winter. The father, Amlan Satan, is a political-thriller writer and doubles as the masked vigilante named 'Storm-Shadow' and works as a neighborhood crime-watch enforcer, which is odd, given that vigilantism is mostly considered a 'fringe' behavior in mainstream society. He's a respected/followed online political-thriller writer, however, and he cares much for his daughter ('Ezzy') who is from his first/failed marriage to a Boston lawyer (Shelbye O'Hara). Amlan and Ezzy are Catholics (by-faith) and enjoy their quaint live in Somerville, and no one knows Satan (Amlan!) is 'Storm-Shadow' in the snowy romantic winter of this quaint residential area of Massachusetts (New England).

AMLAN: I love you, my darling; I'm doing what's required to make our life one of great joy(s) and distance from crime/vanity!

Satan's favorite literature-work is Edith Wharton's The Age of Innocence, which he 'references' in erecting his life of spiritual sanity/IQ and happiness/security for himself and Ezzy in quaint snowy Somerville. He finds all kinds of emotional/metaphysics inspiration(s) from the Wharton work and wonders how he might 'draw' from the society choreography/values presented in the Wharton work for his 'casting' of life-value(s) in Somerville for himself and his darling ('Ezzy').

It's the Coronavirus-era tribulation in Somerville, and the men/women of the National Guard's been called-in to secure Somerville from a strange threat involving a gang of axe-wielding criminals called Cobra who seek to destabilize this 'quaint' residential/symbolic New England area right outside Boston, which is home to some pretty symbolic American schools, including Harvard, MIT, and Boston College!

AMLAN: I think this 'Cobra'-force in Somerville, marshalled by the lead-captain (psycho!) 'Night-Slasher' requires vigilantism!

Amlan's befriended a group of National Guardswomen during this Coronavirus visitation in quaint/snowy Somerville who're evaluating the dashing young single-father's spiritual (Catholic) commitment(s) to his darling ('Ezzy') as well as his political-thriller writings of rather 'solid' appeal as well as his Wharton-drawn secret daydream about a doll-romance after his first failed-marriage. This 'doll' fantasy Amlan Satan carries is inspired by the mythology of Pygmalion and concerns his 'interest(s)' in casting illusions of romance as 'idealized' forms of 'faerie-angels' serving as 'maidservants' of immortal love! The National Guardswomen suspected Satan was 'Storm-Shadow' and therefore became drawn to him as a potential real-life 'Robin Hood' of modern-time. They consider this 'street-research' worthy of 'cool' American children's folklore!

GUARDSWOMEN ('GI Joe'): You're very interesting, Storm-Shadow!
STORM-SHADOW: Why, thanks.
GI JOE: You live with your darling, Ezzy, alone?
STORM-SHADOW: Correct.
GI JOE: How'd you feel disclosing your double-identity to us, pal?
STORM-SHADOW: Well, it seems there's much 'room' for intrigue in American vigilance.
GI JOE: You're not an 'average' justice-lore character in New England, pal.
STORM-SHADOW: Correct.
GI JOE: Well, we're fascinated by your Wharton-drawn Pygmalion daydream too.
STORM-SHADOW: Adds to the Robin Hood vigilantism-fable, eh?
GI JOE: It's good for American children's storytelling, we think.
STORM-SHADOW: Hey, well, then...market what's profitable (American society)!

This Pygmalion-daydream Amlan Satan ('Storm-Shadow') harbors is quite a marvel of modern American lore. This is true, because you'd think a 'crazy vigilante' in New England would be a simpleton or loon, but in fact, Satan's quite a 'dashing' romantic and faerie-tale advocate and charming courtier-gentleman of a rather 'illuminative' romance-consciousness!

STORM-SHADOW: It's true; I'm on Klonopin-meds (psychiatric!), but I consider my mental-faculty worthy of self-improvement.

Meanwhile, Cobra-force in Somerville, which is what's drawn in the National Guard in the first-place, led by the hideous blade-wielding Night-Slasher, is wreaking havoc on the quaint/snowy area in New England, and Storm-Shadow's resolved to become a very helpful vigilante-force to take this dark presence down or disintegrate the 'quality' of its haunting! He goes out on his snow-shoes every dawn in search of 'signs' of Cobra and the Night-Slasher and decides to take iPhone-photos of random 'strangers' walking by early-morning hours and posts-blogs of them (cyber) suggesting, "Any 'stranger' wandering around at dawn (Somerville) just might be a Cobra-force aggravator of New England life and photo-sharing encourages citizens/residents to entreat feelings of 'natural' passion(s) for shared detective-work!"

SOMERVILLE REPORTER: The irony of this cyber-reporting work (Storm-Shadow) is that citizens feel inspired alongside him!

Storm-Shadow (Amlan Satan) attends a Victorian costume party after the Night-Slasher is apprehended, and the event is hosted by the very-same National Guardswomen ('GI Joe') who greeted/befriended him earlier and studied his 'eccentric' vigilante-profile for American studies. At the party, Satan meets/greets a beautiful/charming young lady in Victorian-costume who's name happens to be 'Ezzy' and who reminds him of this 'uncanny' Pygmalion-daydream of his doll-figurine fantasy! He tells Ezzy, "Faerie-angels are more 'realistic' than aliens, right?"

GI JOE: Are you going to continue to foster your hearty relationship with Ezzy?
STORM-SHADOW: Well, why not (there's nothing wrong with New England chowder!)?
GI JOE: Is there something 'real' to this Pygmalion-tale of a Somerville vigilante, pal?
STORM-SHADOW: We might see some 'real' American optimism this year, right?
GI JOE: Does Ezzy like clam-chowder?
STORM-SHADOW: Don't all Americans?

EZZY: There's a 'cool' wind in Mass.
