A Story by Abishai100

A vignette of a weekly library-activity that invokes a 'wonder-sense' of institutional distance(s).

"
A story about living mental (spiritual?) dating, inspired by Real Genius (Val Kilmer). Thanks for reading,

Amlan Satan is a New England commuting resident who always liked getting to the Boston Public Library (BPL) on Saturday mornings by bicycle to spend time reading portions of the Asimov sci-fi book I, Robot, a treatise on conscious intelligence and rational decision-making in the mind as it pertains to governance/obedience and 'natural' instincts to rebel against a supervisor, even if the mind is A.I.

However, the reason Satan is so intrigued by the prospect(s) of getting to the BPL for his Saturday reads/rereads of the Asimov work is his weekly encounter with the lovely librarian-lady (Shelbye) who reminds him that the strangeness of romance/beauty in places of civilization traffic and activity can invoke thoughts about human uniqueness. These 'human uniqueness thoughts' Satan (Amlan!) entreats on Saturdays during his Asimov reads/rereads had been reinforcing in his conscious mind the 'experience' of relating intelligence and decision-making to fortune and happiness, and he thought of this those times when Shelbye (BPL-librarian) offered him a cheerful/warm smile while he'd been sitting at a reading-table in front of her reception-desk to admire her 'magazine-like' photogenic quality of 'glowing' demeanor akin to a movie-star or something!

AMLAN SATAN: These Saturdays at the Library (Boston!) remind me of the special mind-IQ feeling of Asimov and love's charm!

Now, the BPL is quire a marvelous modern building/institution, since it affords the traveler/reader a 'good sense' of traffic-IQ symbolism and readership/literature/resource happiness. You find it all here, whether you're a student, scholar, singer, or stranger! Amlan Satan finds the 'charm' of staring at the lovely Library (Boston!) librarian (Shelbye) while reading/rereading his Asimov work (I, Robot) about the civilization 'angst' linked to structured forms of rational submission and the yearning to find creative routes to self-expression, regardless of mental condition(s) or surroundings! All this 'institutional' thinking invoked in the working/thinking New England man (Amlan Satan) an indoor 'sense' of the wonder(s) of resource/access based modern human/social...distances!

While perusing some of the books in the 'immaculate' collection at BPL on one given Saturday during his Asimov reading/rereading and his pensive/'charmed' gazing at the charming hostess (Librarian-Shelbye!), Satan (Amlan!) realized he'd wanted to find some 'ingenious' way to reveal to the librarian that the reason the Asimov readings held special magic for him was because of his persistent 'human' interest in the 'nature' of rational thinking about social spaces and what governs obedience...or depression!

AMLAN SATAN: These weekly visits/sits at the Library (Boston!) near Librarian (Shelbye!) remind me of the 'IQ' of drywalls!

SHELBYE: You're 'gifting' me a bag of 'charm' (toys) gems, Satan?
AMLAN: Why, yes!
SHELBYE: Are you working-up some interest to ask me to get coffee with you?
AMLAN: Why, yes!
SHELBYE: You come here every Saturday to read your Asimov novel (favorite).
AMLAN: Today, the novel's extended to some 'interest' in the resource-hostess!
SHELBYE: You're 'breaking' your own life-code(s), Satan.
AMLAN: You've 'charmed' me, Shelbye!
SHELBYE: Alright.

What this New England man's learning during his visit(s) to the Library (Boston!) is that the human mind can entertain the forms of rational imagination tied to traffic awareness and society 'magic' because of the very structures/shelves of knowledge and fortune and humanity that facilitate the 'serendipity' of 'pure' (spiritual?) dating. Isn't that what Asimov hoped to convey in the novel which brought Shelbye/Amlan together at the BPL?
