Ariel's story is tragic and sad. She'd been a yearning lovely underwater mermaid, a half-fish, half-humanoid, who was in love with a human prince who moved her to make a special deal with an evil sea-witch to obtain a temporary human full-body to win the prince's affections, but if she lost the wager, she'd become the sea-witch's slave. Well, as it came to pass, the prince fell in love with human-Ariel for a short-time, before he'd been swept-away by another woman, a gorgeous human princess whom he decided to eventually marry! Ariel decided to dive into the water to commit suicide to avoid becoming the sea-witch's slave. Her spirit swam nevertheless as a 'specter-ghost' underwater for centuries.

Let's fast-forward some centuries into the modern-era on Earth, where (in New England!), a drug-addicted couple tried to get-on as best they could with their enduring trouble with drug-abuse. They had a small child, a darling boy named Eric, who loved to crawl around in their shared apartment in Boston and make music and cheer his parents up when they'd been depressed by their deadly addiction. Well, one weekend, the parents discovered that Eric had deceased, died of starvation/dehydration, because his parents were too addicted and intoxicated and half-unconscious to tend to his dietary needs for a good long while because of their drug-intake which was particularly large that week. Tragic Eric was laid to rest in a New England cemetery, and his specter-ghost now floated in the misty air.

ARIEL: I've found a true friend in your spirit, darling Eric.
ERIC: I died of neglect, as my parents were abusing drugs in our home!
ARIEL: I know that...I found you with psychic knowledge, darling Eric.
ERIC: Why, you're a beautiful mermaid!
ARIEL: Thanks; I found you, and I believe you're my 'soul' mate, darling Eric.
ERIC: I know of your sad tale, lovely mermaid (Ariel)!
ARIEL: Well, yes, my daydream of love with quest did not come to any fruition.
ERIC: That's truly sad, lovely mermaid...we're both 'bound' by tragedy, no?
ARIEL: Indeed, we are, darling Eric...but perhaps (together!), we're a 'duet' for the angels.
ERIC: Even 'faeries' might sing of the praise(s) of our 'magical' destiny, no?
ARIEL: Indeed, and we'll find the right tones of inspiration for our newfound bond of holy friendship!
ERIC: I agree...perhaps we might 'dream' of the art of flying youth, armed with the 'arrows' of wishes.
ARIEL: That's a 'dungeon' faerie-tale, indeed.
ERIC: Good.

So, what began as a tragic tale about two 'lost' souls of Earth evolved into what one might consider a 'painting' of redeemed and perhaps/arguably requited destiny. The lesson here is, despite your experience, never disregard the fortune of 'wrought' distances.
